Lauren spends her day lounging on the couch watching Netflix, going over all the possibilities in her head of what her daughter could be doing right now. Did she get any presents? If so, what were they? Did she get a birthday cake? Did she make a wish when she blew out the candles? She decides to think these things for a particular reason, mainly to keep herself sane.

Because for all she knew, her baby could be...yeah.

Her parents had originally invited her over for dinner today to keep her mind off of everything, but she wasn't in the mood to go out and socialise with any human beings and she wasn't in the mood to be spoken to like she was made out of glass, she just...wasn't in the mood.

She just wanted to be lazy and unsociable for a while, and she hoped her parents would understand that she wasn't doing this to be rude.

She sighs and shifts her body so she was led on her back, leaving her piercing green eyes staring up at the ceiling. She watches numbly as the fan spins round and round, trying her best to imagine what her life would be like if her daughter was still with her. She knows this probably isn't a good thing to do, especially today, but she couldn't help it.

After a while of getting lost in her thoughts, she hears the doorbell ring, startling her ever so slightly. Her senses were suddenly on high alert as she quickly sits up, and her numbness was temporarily forgotten.

As far as she knows, she wasn't expecting anyone, and she definitely didn't invite anyone over.

Kicking the blanket off of her legs, she hesitantly stands up and makes her way towards the front door, her heart thumping a hundred miles an hour in her chest.

She pulls the door open, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion when she see's a police officer stood there.

Did she do something illegal?

"Are you Lauren Jauregui?" The woman speaks, pulling Lauren out of her thoughts. Her voice was professional and stern, but it also had a hint of sadness in it which concerned the green eyed girl slightly.

"Uhhh yeah, that's me. What's happened?" She wonders, opening the door a little wider, silently telling the police officer it was okay to come in.

Like expected, she walks in, stopping a few feet away from the now closed door.

"My names officer Cyrus, I'd like to talk to you for a second if that's okay" she replies, pulling a small notebook and pen out of the pocket in her shirt.

Clearing her throat slightly, Lauren nods, "yes, of course. Would you like to sit down?" She asks, gesturing towards the couch.

Officer Cyrus nods and sits down, the green eyed girl sitting down on the couch opposite her.

"Okay, so at ten AM this morning, a little girl was brought into the LA children's hospital with severe malnourishment and dehydration. According to my fellow workmates, she was found wondering the streets right next to a busy road, she-"

"Not to be disrespectful of anything, but why are you telling me this?" Lauren interrupts, feeling even more confused than she did earlier.

"Because her blood work matches perfectly to the little girl you gave birth to three years ago today"

Lauren feels her heart stop in her chest as her eyes immediately fill with tears. She tries her hardest to stop the sob from escaping her lips as she holds her head in her hands, but she couldn't. After three whole years of desperate searching, her baby had finally been found, and although hurt and severely malnourished, she wasn't dead, and Lauren so so so damn grateful.
