"one black coffee!"
keith stepped up to the counter and took the coffee from the barista, a small girl with large round glasses. "thanks." he muttered as he put his headphones back in.
he stepped out of the dark coffee shop and onto the bright streets of new york. he sighed, pressing play on his phone and starting his way towards his dorm room.
stuck in the middle with you by stealers wheel started playing, and took him right back into a mindless state of content.
he walked down the busy city streets, watching people go about their days and their lives just like him. he watched flowers pass, flowers on noses and collarbones and knuckles.
keith looked down at his knuckles and observed the little red marks where his sunflowers had appeared once before. he never wanted them. when they had appeared, he was visiting his brother at his dorm room. him and keith went to the same college, but keith had a separate dorm building down the avenue.
the yellow flowers had appeared on his knuckles while mid sentence with shiro, bright little sunflowers blooming on his hand. he stopped talking and ran into the bathroom, grabbing the scissors and furiously cutting at the sunflowers. he winced as the pain seared his knuckles. he watched as no matter how much he cut away at the flowers, they simply grew back. his chest hurt as he fought back sobs, trying to avoid breaking down in his brother's bathroom.
that was months ago. he still felt the same about the flowers, but he was a small bit more open to the idea of a soulmate.
he just... never thought he deserved one. and no one deserved to be around him.
he didn't like to think about it.
