Abby's Pov
6 Months have past and we still haven't found Clint. I was starting to lose hope, but Steve was always telling me that he is ok and we will find him. We have been playing the waiting game for far too long, but Fury told us to wait to do anything until he tells us to. We have literally done nothing. We don't even have the slightest of clues as to where Clint is. I was starting to get anxious. I just wanted to know if he was alive.
Steve has taken me on many dates. He is trying to distract himself as well and me from the reality of the situation. Natasha doesn't do anything but train. She is training all day, only stopping to eat, but she just takes her food to her room. Tony and Bruce busy themselves in the lab building who knows what. And Thor is back on his planet.
I just want Clint back, and things to go back to normal.
"Hey Abby," Steve said while taking a seat next to me on the sofa in the living room.
"Hi," I say as I rest my head on his chest. Steve wraps his arms around me.
"You know we are going to get him back," Steve said.
"I want him here know," I said burying my face in his chest.
"I know. I know," Steve said. while rubbing my back. We stay like that for a few minutes, but we are disturbed when Fury burst through the doors.
"Gather everyone in the meeting room. It is about Clint," Fury said.
"Jarvis tell everyone to gather in the meeting room. Tell them that it is about Clint and to hurry," Steve said standing up and heading towards the door with me quickly following.
It only took 3 minutes for everyone to gather, which is the fastest we have ever gathered.
"We know where Clint is. He is in a small town in the corner of Russia. He is being kept in an abandoned meat factory. You are going to retrieve him as quickly as you can, drawing as little attention to yourself as possible," Fury said. "You leave now." With that, he got up and left. Everyone quickly stands up and exits the room going to put on their suit and grabbing their gear. I was the first one ready and was waiting for them so we could take off.
Surprisingly Tony was the next one to show up, then Steve, the Bruce and last but not least was Natasha. We boarded the carrier and took off with Natasha flying as soon as we were all seated and secured in our seats.
Nat said that it would take about 2 hours to get to our destination so we all tried to relax. The key word there is tried. We were all so nervous and anxious that we couldn't really relax. I was sitting next to Steve who was making fists with his hand over and over again. I gently grabbed his hand. He looks over and smiles at me and I smile back.
The 2 hours seem to fly by, all of a sudden Natasha was telling everyone that we were landing and that we needed to get ready. Steve was going over the battle plan, but I wasn't listening. Something about staying alert, try not to kill, find Clint. I just nodded my head and hoped that I looked like I knew what I was doing.
We land and make our way through the forest that surrounds the facility. We break up into our groups. Tony and Thor, when he is here, up in the sky, Natasha and Steve on the ground in hand to hand combat, and me and Clint shooting with our bows. But since Clint isn't here it is just me. I typically follow Clint's lead, but now that he's not here, I don't really know what to do. Nat nods in my direction giving me the sign that means to break away from everyone else.
I look around trying to find a good spot where I can get a good viewpoint. I spot a tree and I start to climb it. I am about half way up when I hear a loud Boom. I can only assume that we have been spotted. I climb even faster than before. I get up to my branch and wait. I will be no help to anyone if I give away my spot before I can help anyone.
I wait and wait, but no one comes my way. I don't even hear anyone. Everything is deathly silent. The silence should calm me, but it does the exact opposite. The time continues. I wait and wait, but still, nothing happens. I was getting more and more worried. I tried our earpieces, but no one answered. I slowly lowered myself down from my branch and started walking in the direction everyone else walked.
I walk for about half a mile when I came to a clearing. Well, it really was more of a hole than a clearing. I imagine that this is where I heard the boom. I scan the area. I was looking for anything that would give me an idea where the others are. I notice Steve's helmet on the ground. I carefully pick it up. I notice that there are drag marks heading towards the big building that was off in the distance.
I slowly started walking towards the building with my bow out and ready to shoot at any given moment. Surprisingly there weren't any soldier anywhere. I slowly advanced on the building trying to find a place where I could sneak in, but I only saw an air vent that was at treetop level.
I decided that that was my only option. I scaled the tree closest to the vent. The branch wasn't very steady, but it was my only hope. I carefully advanced towards the edge of the branch. I squatted down and then changed positions so I was holding onto the branch with my hands. I swung my legs back and then propelled them forward so I kicked the vent cover. I hit it hard enough that it flew off of the first try.
Next came the hard part. I was going to throw myself into the vents. I swung back and forth a few times before I felt comfortable. I swung back one last time and at the peak of going forward, I let go with my hands. I flung into the vent perfectly. I carefully turned around and started to advance through the vents.
I had no sense of direction so I listened to the voices. I heard lots of people talking to my right so I went that direction.
"Is it necessary to perform these tests on all of them? They didn't work on the archer, so they probably won't work on the others," I heard a female voice say.
"At least try on the soldier. I have high hopes for him," A male voice said. I tried my hardest to gasp. I slowly and quietly advanced through the vents. I came to a vent opening and peered through.
It looked like it was some sort of lab. I carefully removed the cover. I stuck my head down and looked around. What I saw was shocking.
There lie, Natasha, Steve, Tony, Thor, and Clint all unconscious and bloody, but Clint and Steve looking the worst of all. I knew that I had to get them out of there, but the question was how?
Hello, my Giraffes!!
I finally updated! I know that it feels likes a long time since I last updated, but I just wasn't feeling very motivated. Now I have a new idea of where I was this story to go, so I am very excited!
