Midnight Surprise

It was 00:15 am and she still curled up on her bed, snoring a little and suddenly her phone buzzed.

'Ugh.. someone just trying to ruin my beauty sleep', she thought. Reluctantly, she looked at the phone to see the caller's ID; 'TRAVIS'.

She picked it up, "What's up, Travis? Better if it's a shoe sale or a villain caught you, or else you will make me come late to school for nothing.", she said with eyes closed.

"Hey, so sorry Rose, unfortunately this is not one of them. Anyway, what are you doing right now Rose? Hope you're not busy.", said the caller with sarcastic tone.

"Duh.. what else I will do in the midnight other than..... Wait -- HAWK??!?", her eyes widened.

The caller replied, "Yes, Rose. This is me, and I'm sure now you're really awake."

"But how did you get Travis' phone? You're not in the earth right now, are you? -- *gasp* ARE YOU??!?", she said with a little bit shocked and excitedly sat on her bed.

"Haha.. Yes I AM, Rose. And I'll explain it later. Now, since you're finally awake, can you please look out your window? I have a little surprise for you.", he said.

She felt curious, "A surprise?", and she started to go to the window and opened it. In the distance, there was an object that floating in the air and shining, but it was too far away to be clearly seen by her eyes. "What is that, Hawk? I can't see it.", she spoke to the phone while squinted, still make sure what the object is.

"Well, if you're curious, just check it out with me.", he grinned.

"But where are you?", she confused.

"Look down, silly."

Her room is in upstairs, so she looked down just like he said. And there he was; stood in front of her house, wore a blue navy tuxedo with Travis phone in his ear, waved excitedly to the girl in the window. A blue dragon was next to him.

Her eyes widened and suddenly she shouted, "HAAAWWKKKK"

"Sshhhh.. Rose! You don't want to wake up the entire town don't you?", he replied panicky. "Now please come down before somebody notice that my dragon is not a horse."

"Uh okay, but I'll get to change my outfit first. I'm pretty sure that a tux isn't match with pajamas. I'll be right back in a sec!", she hung up the phone and then the window's closed. 'What to wear.. what to wear..', she talked to herself while started throwing some dresses out of her wardrobe.

(About 15 minutes later)

Her phone buzzed. "Rose, you'd better hurry, there's a dog that start barking to my dragon. I believe it soon will gain people's attention."

"Ooww sorry Hawk, I'll come down in a moment!", she hung up again.

He tried to communicate with the dog, and suddenly the window's opened, "Hawk, I'm ready!"

"Okay, wait a sec", he summoned his wand and make an ice slide in front of the window with his snow magic. She immediately slid on it. At the end of the slide, he caught her in bridal style.

He froze for about a moment, looking at her. She wore a pink dress and a pair of shoes that match to it. She tightened up her hair into a bun and finished it with glowing hair pick.

"Hawk, are you okay?", she asked worriedly.

"Y-you look.... different.", he stammered.

She started to panic, "Whoaa.. in a good way or bad way?!?"

He laughed a bit, "I mean you look great with what you do with your hair. I like it."

She blushed, "Thanks Hawk, you look great too."

He set her on the ground, then grabbed her hand, "Shall we?", she nodded with a smile. He held her waist to help her climbing the dragon. After that, he climbed the dragon by himself.

The dragon took off to the midnight sky, and suddenly she asked while keeping her hands on his waist, "So, what's the occasion?"

He looked at her, "Well, yesterday was your birthday, and I planned to make a surprise for you. But I don't want to make it too obvious, so I decided to do it a day after. You know, so you won't expect it. Then, I asked Travis to help me entered the earth and I borrowed his phone. And now... here we are."

"Wow, I don't expect this at all. But anyway, thanks Hawk.", she smiled.

Soon, they arrived at the floating object; it was a park that was made from ice, surrounded by roses. It was the moonlight that made it shiny.

They dropped off from the dragon. After looking at the surroundings, she gasped and closed her mouth with her hand, "Did you – did you made this??"

"Hehe yes, I have been practiced a lot to advance my magic. I added some roses too because I know you liked it. What do you think?", he replied with a smile.

"Ohh my god.. Hawk, I LOVE IT!!", she replied excitedly and hugged him all of sudden.

After a moment, she realized and released the hug, "Oops sorry, I was just too excited."

"Haha it's okay Rose. And now, how about we continue the night with a dance?". He clapped his hands and Joy's frog band came out from behind of roses bushes. They started to play the song; 'This is The Moment' in instrumental.

"Care to dance?", he let out his hand. She grabbed it and smiled, "Off course."

A few moments later, while they were still dancing, he spoke, "Rose, besides your birthday surprise, actually I was searching a moment to talk about something to you."

"And what is that?", she felt curious.

"You know that I always run away from the princesses that my granny set me up with.", he started.

"Yupp, ALWAYS.", she rolled her eyes.

He continued, "And do you remember, there was a time that you asked me, if there's at least one princess that I don't run away from. Well, I realized that I haven't told you the answer."

He stopped the dance and holding her hands, "Yes, there is one princess that I don't run away from, and now she's standing right in front of me."

Her eyes widened, and she blushed so hard, "A-Are you s-sure..?"

He ignored her question and told her, "I love you, Rose Cinderella.". He pulled her to a gentle kiss, his hands wrapped her waist. Her eyes still widened, but in seconds later she closed her eyes and hugged him back.

After a moment, she ended the kiss and whispered to him, "BEST. BIRTHDAY SURPRISE. EVER."

Their hands intertwined and they smiled to each other under the moonlight.
