"I'll do it" said Rat with determination. He was standing with Col and Connie outside their school class waiting for Aneena and Jane to pack their stuff.
"No you won't" replied Col trying hard not to laugh at his friend.
"Guys, when you two decide to stop all this, then I'll tell you Aneena is coming" Connie interrupted them trying to put an end to Col's teasings.
"Ok, here we go" Rat said waiting for Aneena to reach them.
"Hey guys" Aneena greeted them. "Everything ok?" she asked noticing Col's giggles.
"Nothing to worry about" answered Rat rapidly. "I was just wondering...would you like to come to the movies with me tonight?" he added looking at his toes.
"Are you asking me out?" Aneena wondered and Rat felt butterflies in his stomach. Col and Connie weren't helping at all. Rat noticed Jane joining the group as well.
"Um...yes?" Rat confirmed and blushed.
He was usually the cool one of the team, the adventurer and the joker, but right now he was reserved. What was wrong with him?
"Ok! Agreed! You pick a movie and we will meet here at eight."
"Sounds great!" Rat said with excitement. At last, he found his spirit!
"See ya" Aneena waved goodbye and left them in order to talk to Jane in private.
"Well, that went good." Connie said encouraging Rat. "Who's in for a contest?"
"What kind of contest?" asked Col curious. Connie had changed since last summer, when she defeated Kullervo, the sinister shapeshifter that threatened the Society. Yet, she hadn't revealed her secret to anyone not even her brother, Simon.
"You and Skylark, Rat and Windfoal, Simon and Rex and me and Argand" she answered.
"Deal" agreed Rat. "I'll find Windfoal, you find Skylark" he said pointing at Col "and Connie will call Simon."
"See you at the refinery" Connie started to run towards the Lionheart's mansion to find her bother and inform him about the contest.
"But I'm not bringing Argand" she thought smiling. It was the day she was waiting for. The day she would reveal her secret.
