Looking around at the world around her Alexis now realizes that the world is no longer the world she once remembered. This small Georgia town had gone to complete hell. It was now full of the walking corpses with a blood lust for human flesh, the kind of things that were only supposed to exist in the movies. Her mother was dead, possibly her dad too wherever the no good bastard was and all she had left of her former life was her two sisters and her brother. At age twenty five It was now her life's mission to protect them at all costs. They had held up in their home until this point but it was now time to move on, there were too many of the undead and too little supplies in town to stay.......
It was early morning and I sat on the living room couch waiting for the others to wake so that i could tell them of my new plan. I wander weather or not they will think it's a good idea. The first one to wake is the oldest of my siblings Jacob, or Jake for short. Jacob is twenty, tall, somewhere around six foot, dark brown hair and bright green eyes and in my opinion was the wisest out of all of us. If anyone understood my reasoning for moving on it would be him.
"Mornin Jake." I said startling him slightly.
"Mornin Sis. What has you up so early?" he asks eyebrows raised
I paused for a moment deliberating on how to bring up the subject of moving on as the rest of my brothers and sisters slowly make their way into the room as well. How do I tell them it's time to leave the only home they've ever really known? The home our mom died in?
I slowly begin to speak "Guys...I think its time that we move on. There's nothing left here"
They all looked at me with different looks on their faces. My sister, Jade the youngest of the four of us began to cry softly, a reaction i saw coming. She is only sixteen and unsure of the new world outside of our home. Since the infection broke out she hasn't been allowed out of our back yard and even from there she has seen what these things were capable of, we all had.
"I don't want to leave." Jade stated between sobs.
I dropped my head knowing it would break her heart but it was something that had to be done.
"We have to, there is no other choice. There are too many of those things out there and not enough food left in town to risk anymore runs. We know enough now that we may be better off out there in the open where we can defend ourselves better."
She stopped for a few moments gathering herself together. When my other sister Cassie finally spoke up.
"She's right Jade. We cant stay here with no food left and so many of those things around town." she stated calmly
Cassie's opinion came as a shock. I thought that she would have taken Jade's side. Cassie is eighteen and kind of sheltered. Like Jade, Jake and I had tried to protect her from the outside world as much as possible in the past few months. Jake and I had taken her into town a few times on runs while the other stayed with Jade, so she knew more what we were dealing with than Jade did. Cassie was like Jake, Tall, slender long dark brown hair and Green eyes. She used to be really tan but these few months of being locked inside this house had taken a tole on that.
"So it's settled. We need to pack. Only take what we need girls. A couple changes of clothes, Food to last a few days, guns and ammo." Jake said sternly mainly talking to the younger girls.
I nodded in agreement and stood up heading for my room. Once inside my room I grabbed my army duffle bag. Threw in two pairs of Jeans and a pair of shorts, followed by two tank tops and an old denim button up shirt for cooler nights. Next I grabbed of course a hairbrush running it though my hair a couple times before throwing it into the bag, wrapped a couple of ponytail holders around my wrist, then dug through my drawer for a couple of pairs of socks putting a pair own as well before throwing on my nikes. I took one last look around my room before walking out the door and heading for my moms room where all the guns were.
I decided to grab the pistols instead of the shotguns. Easier to carry and lighter if we had to make a quick run for it. My mom owned six pistols, two nine mills, one judge, one colt 45, and two 380s.
"Guys, come in here a min please." I yelled down the hall.
After a few moments they all made their way into the room. I handed one 380 to Jade and the other to Cassie, the 45 and a nine to Jake, and I took a nine and the judge. Each gun had a holster so we all took a moment to put the holsters on before I started passing around the ammo. We only had two boxes of shells for each pistol so we had to do all we could to make them lst till we could find somewhere with ammo. I looked to the bottom of the gun safe where mom had kept mine and Jakes knives over the years and passed a knife to everyone, which they all hooked to their belts except for Jake whom was particular and had to have his hooked to his armband. I looked over on the dresser and grabbed moms bracelet and placed it on my un occupied wrist and took one last look around.
"Time to go guys." I stated grabbing moms SUV keys off the table.
