"Jake's P.O.V"
We had been riding for what seems like months even though it had only been a couple of days only stopping when absolutely nessesary. I had taken over driving so that Alexis could get some rest. I looked around at my sisters all three of them sleeping at the moment and realized how frail they looked when they slept. This is not the world that we were supposed to grow up or grow old in, but it was the hand we had been dealt. All we could do now was make the best of it and try to keep each other alive. I put my focus back on the road and hoped that there was a town near by that had some gas or we weren't making it much further and there was only a slight bit of daylight left. I sit here thinking about how things used to be. Not a care in the world for any of us. I was in college getting my certification to become a deputy when the infection started. Alexis was in college at the local tech school for nursing, Cassie was taking time off before she went to college and Jade was still in high school. Jade, still so young and innocent, most of her friends were gone. Had become one of the undead or fled with their families in hopes of surviving this new cruel exsistance.
"Jake you OK?" my thoughts were interrupted as Alexis started to stir in the seat beside me
"Yea sis I'm good. Did you have a good Nap?" I smirked a little as she stuck her tongue out at me.
Alexis and me had always been the closest out of the four of us kids, I guess because we were the oldest. We had been through so much together. I wouldn't know what I'd do without her. Without any of them actually.
"What's the fuel looking like?" She asked
"Not too good. We're almost on E and Im not sure how far we are from another town." I replied trying not to sound concerned.
"Maybe we should try looking at some of the vehicals we pass. We could syphil gas from them." She said looking at a vehical sitting on the side of the road.
"Alexis's P.O.V"
AS the vehical came to a stop the other two girls started to stir around.
"What's going on?" Jade asks sleepily looking around
"Nothing going to see if we can get any gas out of these other cars." I replied as i stepped out, stretching my legs for the first time in what seemed like forever.
I walked around for minuet getting the feel for the area and checking for walkers as they became to be called. Couldn't think of anything else to call them. The cosast looked clear so to keep quiet i motioned to Jake to check the first car. There wasn't too much in the first two, not even enough to make two whole gallons. As we went to check the third car we heard something rustling in the bushes near by.
"Quiet, Get down." I whisper yelled to Jake who was standing at the back of the car.
Alarmed he looked around. In the Direction the noise had came from. After about five minuets of noise there it was. A walker stumbled out of the woods snarling, and hobbling in our direction. Jake went to reach for a gun and I shook my head motioning toward his knife, as I grabbed for mine as yet another walker made its way out of the words toward us. I jumped up running toward the closest one ramming my knife under its jaw. I tried pulling the knife out but it was stuck. I pulled and pulled and when it finally snatched loose it sent me tumbling backwards onto the pavement. About the time I was almost to my feet a walker fell on top of me snarling and snapping trying to sink its teeth into my face. God this thing was heavy.
"Jake help, get it off me!!" I screamed in a panic.
I pushed it back and managed to slip away from it. I backed up as far as I could but was suddenly stopped by one of the cars. I tried crawling under it but something, I assumed was the walker grabbed me by the ankle. I was fighting so hard. All of a sudden everything went black.
