Days Gone By

Chapter 6

Once we got in the truck we didn't look back as Cassie had asked. We all jumped at the sound of the gun shot...I held in my tears because I didn't want my other siblings to see me break down though that's what they were doing and I couldn't blame them one bit. I felt like I failed Cassie.

Our next stop was a about an hour or so away, consisting of a small convenient store next to an abandoned motel.

"We should make camp here for the night." Tony says as him, Sydney and Brain walk up to the truck. Tony kept giving me this weird yet sympathetic look and I really didn't like being stared at.

"Ok, Ill start clearing the rooms, Jake, Jackie yall want to look for food of some kind?"

"I'm the boss here." Tony pitched in looking slightly annoyed

"And I really don't give a damn. It wasn't an order it was a question dick." I snap walking off towards the motel across the street.

Apparently he was on mute because he sure didn't have a come back for that one. The rooms werent all that hard to clear. Seems we werent the first to hold up here. There were a few dead walkers laying here and there outside of the rooms and two or three that had to be taken out, but none in the rooms themselves.

"All Clear up here guys." I inform from the second floor balcony.

"Tony's P.O.V"

"It wasn't and order it was a question dick." Alexis snaps at me walking off.

What was it about this girl. Anyone else talked to me that way and id beat the shit out of them. There was something about her,she gets under my skin, something different I was intrigued by her yet I couldn't stand her at the same time.

"All clear here guys." She says leaning over the balcony of the motel.

"All clear here Tony" Sydney yells from across the street at the store.

"Any Food?" I holler back

"Yea a few canned veggies and some other things. Found some raviolis for the kids" He said holding up the cans for the kids to see.

Anna and Chris came running. I couldn't help but smile these two had been through so much in the short time I'd been with the group. Walkers got their dad and sister who was only six. To see them happy and smiling was rare these days. After one last sweep Alexis came down to join us rummaging through the few food items she found upstairs. She finally settled on a bag of jerky handing the rest to Jackie. Jackie took and cooked enough on what we found to hold everyone through the night.

After dinner for some reason I noticed that Alexis had dissapeared, and even more oddly that bothered me, I didn't think she would be far from her brother and sister so I didn't think nothing else of it until she came running out of the woods screaming.

"WALKERS..."She says louder the closer she gets

"Sydney you and Jade get the kids upstairs we can protect them better there." I turn running in the direction Alexis came from and she turned on her heels to follow.

"How many?" I said running beside her

"Allot..I couldn't count them all." She returned

I look behind me to see Brian and Jake following gun in hand, and Jackie, and Jenni not too far behind them.

When we came up on the herd I skidded to a halt. They were everywhere at least twenty from what I could see in the little light we had. I took the pistol out of my holder and started blasting bullets at every walker i saw coming, and everyone else did the same. There were more than we thought.

"Tony on your right!" Alexis yells

I turn to see a rather large geek coming at me and quickly took him down. Damn it she saved my ass again. That's twice now. We continued to shoot for what seemed like an hour or longer Jackie ran out of bullets and had to change to using her knife. Finally the group was down to three and those were easily took out.

"Spread out and make sure there aren't anymore, and check the bodies for anything useful." I tell them.

We really didn't find too much interesting, a couple of knives and jewelry which the jewelry wasn't of importance cuz i mean really what we gonna do with it, cant sale it.

Once back at the motel we try to come up with an idea for some kind of barrier. Sydney and Jade came up with pushing the abandoned cars into a barricade. It would work for now maybe this would be a good place to hold up till the food runs low and we can check out a map to figure out where we are.
