Elena's POV

I was outside the village. A young woman comes towards me.

"I am Ayana. Bonnie let me know everything. You will be living with me till you finish your mission," Ayana told me. She had a look of kindness on her face.

"Thank you. It is appreciated," I told her.

We walked through the village and to her hut.

"I think it would be best if you went and made some friends here. If they ask who you are and why you're here, tell them your mom and dad died in a hut fire. The whole village burned to the ground. And before you go, I have to change your appearance" Ayana told me winking at the first part of the sentence. I have a feeling we will get along just fine.

"Alright. When is dinner so I know when to come home?" I asked her.

"6. If you miss, at least come home before the sun goes down."

"Thank you Ayana. See you later."

"Have fun Elena."

I walk outside and go towards the woods. I swear I saw water this way. I heard a whimper behind some bushes. I walk over and see Rebekah.

"Are you okay?" as I ask that she jumps up in shock. She quickly tries to cover up her crying with a cough.

"Yea. Just needed to get away from some issues in my village," she replies.

"What happened?"

"This girl named Tatia. She has my brothers strung up by their feet. They follow her everywhere. They do everything for her. They discard me like I don't exist."

"That's horrible."

"Yes. Yes. Well, I must be getting back. I have to be back by dark."

"Wait. What is your name?" I ask. Of course, I already knew her name. I don't want to seem creepy though. I have to become friends with them, not make enemies.

"Rebekah. Rebekah Mikaelson."

"I am Elena. Elena Gilbert."

"May we walk to the village together?" she asked with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

"Of course."

"So, if you don't mind telling me, why did you come to the village?"

"What makes you think i'm new?"

"I know everyone here. It's a small village. I have never seen your face."

"My parents died in a fire in the village. I was sent here to live with Ayana. She is a friend of my family."

"I'm sorry for your loss."

"It's okay. We are at my house though. Be safe Rebekah. I will see you tomorrow?"

"Definitely."
