You stared at the clock one last time, biting your lip in frustration and trying not to groan. Your girlfriend, JJ, got back from a case tonight and you hadn't seen her in weeks due to both of your hectic schedules. While JJ worked for the BAU division of the FBI, you worked in a different section of the FBI, which meant you were both always busy and rarely got to see each other. You both tried to make it work, but you both were also some of the first to admit that it wasn't always easy to not see each other.

Feeling anxious, you walked out of your office and headed to the other side of the building to visit your friend Garcia, hoping to get some information on what time the team would be back.

"Hey Penny G," you spoke as you slid into the room, sitting next to your friend with a small smile, knowing she already knew why you came to visit without any notice.

"No updates yet my wonderful duckling, but I think they said they would be on their way back soon an hour ago, which means they'll be back within an hour or two knowing them." Garcia smiled sympathetically at you before you huffed a sigh of anger and nodded, slinking back to your office with disappointment.

You looked at the clock one more time before deciding you'd done enough paperwork for tonight and grabbed your coat and laptop. Screw this, you thought to yourself as you pushed the ground floor elevator button. You wanted to see your girlfriend and if you couldn't do that just yet, you could at least set up a little bit of a surprise for when she got home.

(Time skip to an hour later)

It hadn't been easy getting everything on time, but you knew that JJ would love it and you couldn't wait for her to walk in through the door to see the surprise on her face. You, being the sweet girlfriend to JJ that you were, had swung by her favorite Chinese restaurant and picked up both of your favorite meals, JJ's favorite bottle of wine, as well as some roses to decorate the table.

The second you heard the keys jingle in the lock of the door, you nearly dropped your plate in excitement and ran to greet the beautiful blonde woman who walked inside. "Y/n!" JJ immediately dropped her bags to wrap her arms around the woman she missed so much and couldn't wait to kiss you.

She held you close, breathing in your scent for a moment as her heartbeat quickened with anticipation of their night together. "God, I missed you so much." JJ spoke to you with a hint of desire in her tone, causing your stomach to flip.

"I missed you too!" You gently pressed a kiss to your lover's lips, also running your hands through her long blonde hair with a sigh of relief and happiness. "Oh, I have a surprise for you!" You exclaimed with excitement, quickly grabbing JJ's hand and pulling her to the kitchen with glee.

JJ's eyes watered with tears when she saw the wonderful set up you had thoughtfully made for her; she couldn't help but let a few fall before she gently kissed you and pulled you closer. "How did I get so lucky to have you?" She murmured, thinking out loud.

You giggled and kissed back with just as much enthusiasm. "I ask myself that every day," You replied with a smirk before handing JJ a glass of wine. "Here, I thought you could take this with you while you go and change into some comfortable clothes."

JJ smiled and took the glass gingerly, taking a long sip before sighing, not wanting to separate from you even if it were just for a few minutes . "Come with me?"

You couldn't help but smirk again. "Did you just ask me to come with you while you change clothes? Babe, that's not something you have to ask for, I'll do that any day of the week with pleasure!"

"Have you been talking to Morgan? That was a Morgan line; I'm sure of it!" JJ blushed and jokingly kissed your cheek before taking your hand and tugging you to the bedroom.

She slipped her shirt over her head as you sat on the bed and watched happily. "So, how was the case?" You asked, wanting the both of you to get to talk and eat together before anything progressed in the bedroom.

"Stressful as always," JJ sighed, "It always amazes me how many creeps live out in this world. Sometimes I wonder if we're even making a difference," She mumbled and you frowned as JJ pulled a T-shirt over her head and looked for a pair of shorts.

"Baby, look at me." You took JJ's hand and gently held it in your own before placing a kiss on her lips. "The work that you do is amazing; I don't know how you do it. I know that sometimes it may seem like you're not actually doing anything worth while, but I promise you that you are. You put your life on the line every day to help save absolute strangers and I think that's a beautiful thing. Please don't doubt yourself like this, it worries me and I hate to see you put yourself down when you're so amazing."

JJ teared up for the second time that night, pulling you into a hug and taking a deep breath to calm herself. "What would I do without you?" She asked quietly, beginning to play with your hair.

"Crash and burn?" You joked as a response before happily placing a kiss on JJ's forehead and taking her hand again. "Come on... Let's go enjoy our food before it gets cold; I know you hate it after it's been microwaved." You smiled softly, handing JJ a pair of shorts to put on before you walked out to the kitchen together.

JJ sniffed at the beautiful roses on the table, smiling to herself as she sipped at her glass of wine and grabbed a plate. You leaned over and kissed your girlfriend gently, both of you happy to finally be in each other's company again and glad that you had some time to be together.
