Red.. Red was the colour of love. Red was the colour of affection. Red was also the colour of blood. Blood which surrounded her. A pool of blood increasing beneath her head. Consciousness slipping away, by every passing second. Blackness threatening to overpower her. But she couldn’t just close her eyes, even if it seemed as the easiest thing to do.

She was looking for a familiar face. In the heaps on men and women surrounding her she was looking for one face which she recognised. She wanted to see it ones before... she knew it was the last.. her breathing getting laboured.

She hated herself for not being able to do more. Her eyes were the only part she was able to control. Try as hard as she may, she couldn’t get up. She was hoping to get a glimpse of his. So that she could just embrace the darkness that was looming over her. The darkness seemed to be, very appealing to her. If she could just see him once.

POV change...

Rust was all he could smell. But he knew that expecting it to be rust was really expecting a miracle. It was blood. His, others. The scent overpowering the dust in the air.

He was searching for one figure. With battered body, he forced himself to sit up. He figured he was best off. He was lucky. And why wouldn’t he be, he was with his lucky charm. That thought.. that thought grated his nerves.

He pushed himself of the ground, with a small limp he started his search. Each sight worse than the first, he had never thought the mass destruction caused by a small mistake would be this bad.

He tried to keep his mind on the task at hand. Find one person, the hand which pushed him away to safety. Which ensured that everything would be fine. He just hoped, that her hand was safe too. That she was as sound in body and mind just as he was.

His hoped were crushed when he saw her battered body. Blood running down her face, hand twisted at an awkward angle. Her eyes lit up, seeing him in front of her. He caught hold of her hand.

POV change..

Holding his hand, she was finally ready to embrace the darkness, to give into the ever looming dark.. she was home. She was in peace.
