Chapter 4

Dawn POV

It's been three weeks since I met Allen, and we have arrived at 'The Order'. Linalee, the girl who was so nice to me, promised me her brother, Komui, I believe the name was, would explain everything in greater detail. All I've gathered so far is that I am an 'Accommodator of Innocence', whatever that means.

We walk up to the gate, bright smiles on everyone's faces. "Nii-san! We're home!" Linalee chimes.

A little, black ball with bat wings flys up and screeches in a high voice "LINALEEEE!" Everyone visibly flinches.

"Open up Komui!" Allen yells. I looked up just in time to see the gate open its eyes,

"Commencing Akuma scan!" I fidgeted, feeling uncomfortable under the gaze of the not-so-inanimate object. After about 10 seconds of scanning, the gate screeched,

"SHE'S AN AKUMA, SHE'S HERE TO KILL US ALL!"

"E-Eh?!"

A dark blob caught my eye, so I got to see the crazy man with a sword trying to kill me.

"Kanda! She's with us! Calm down!" Linalee huffed,

Kanda, as it seemed, gave me a final glare, paired with a grunt-like thing, before lowering his weapon, though I noticed he kept his eye on me the whole time, and never sheathed it.

"Geez, this always happens!" Allen sighed, exasperated, "She's an Innocence accommodator! Let us pass!"

"B-b-but, she's dead! And she's got those marks on her face!" Gatekeeper yelled defensively.

"OI! I may be dead, but I am most definitely human!" I snipped back. I was very defensive of my state of being.

I sighed, "Listen, I will explain inside... But for now, I think the others are freezing." I turned to look back at the others, even Kanda was shaking slightly. Wow, it's not that cold, is it?

The gate opens slowly, and we all shuffle inside. I'm not sure what I was expecting when I met Komui, but I figured he would at least be... Well, more like Linalee. After explanations from everyone in the group but me, everyone in the group turned to me, gazes intense.

"So, backstory. How can you be dead and walking?" Lavi was really a blunt guy...

"Well, the story my mother always told me was this: On the day of my birth, just as the sun was rising, thus my name, she went into labor. After only a few hours, I was stillborn. My mother cried and cried. Then, somehow, I opened my eyes, and stared up at her, with the most beautiful emerald eyes she had ever seen, so bright and dazzling. Some said it was a miracle, while others whispered that my mother must have made a deal with satan. It was then I cried two tears of black ink, staining my face forever." I finished the story by trailing my fingers down my marks.

Every stared at me in shock, and I thought I saw a few tears. "That was beautiful..." Komui choked out, "and now," he said, breathing deeply, "I believe I owe YOU an explanation."

A/N: Hey! Yeah, sorry this took so long, but it's worth it, right? It's short, but plot development!
