Prologue

"Hey, guys." Ashley heard that voice. The voice of the man that she liked.

Ashley closed the book that she read and saw Ethan walk in front of her.

The bell rang, makes Ashley groan. She was a little upset because she had to go back to her class and hearing the voice of her teacher, that was totally boring. And also, for a moment, she can't see Ethan.

Ashley was the 10th grade senior high school student, while Ethan was in the 12th grade at their school. That gave her 0% chance to be in the same class with him.

The class go on like usual, very boring. Ashley heard the bell rang. Automatically, she stood from her chair and walked out of the class.

Ashley speed up her steps so she can see Ethan longer. She didn't want to waste her time to enjoy her every step.

Ashley waited outside Ethan's class and saw Ethan and his friends walk toward the door where she stood right now.

Her cheeks turn red immediately. And when Ethan opened the door, their eyes met.

Oh, how beautiful his eyes are.

What Ashley got isn't just Ethan's stare, but also his smile.

After Ethan gave his sweetest smile to her, he walk a little bit fast, so he can catched up his friends and left Ashley who still shocked with what he's doing to her.

"Oh My God!! Oh My God!! What did I saw?" Ashley saw an unknown girl hold her hand and gave her a big smile. Yeah, maybe she's got too excited.

"Ethan smiled at you!!" That girl was jumping in an excitement. Ashley gave that girl a little bit confused look.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I think we should get acquainted first. I'm Callista, Callista Johnson. How about you?"

"I'm Ashley Carlton. Nice to know you." Callista nodded her head.

"You like him, don't you?" Ashley bowed her head, too shy. Callista just smile seeing her new friend doing such a cute thing.

"So, I think I'm right. I know what do you feel right now. You absolutely happy to get a smile from him." Callista chuckled and Ashley just nodded her head.

"Do you like Ethan too?" Ashley dare herself to asked.

"Me? Oh, no. Of course not. I'm just the one who liked them. Just assume me as their fans." Once again, Callista chuckled.

"Hey, come on. Let's go to the canteen. I'm really hungry right now." Callista touched her belly and put her sad face, makes Ashley laugh and nodded her head.

Today was a great day for Ashley. First, Ethan smiled at her and it feels like a dream. Second, Ashley met Callista, who she thought will be a great friend for her.

The days go on as usual for Ashley, but it's better now because she's not alone anymore. Ashley and Callista got closer in just a couple of months, and they always spent time together. It feels like they already know each other for a couple of years.

Until one day, Ashley's days becomes worse. Ethan liked another girl.

She knew that many girls try to get close to him, but Ethan never got interested to all of them.

But the girl, who Ethan liked, was different. This girl can makes Ethan liked her back.

"Bella, come on, let's eat together." Ashley saw Ethan persuade that girl to eat with him. And what Ashley saw after that make her more sad than before. Ethan hold that girl hand.

"Ash, don't be sad." Ashley turned her head and saw Callista tried to cheer her up.

"Let's just eat our food." Callista hold Ashley hand and they walk toward the canteen.

Ashley ate her food with no interest. Ashley kept her eyes to look where Ethan and Bella sit together.

"Try not to look at him, Ash."

"I can't do that, Cal. I always want to see him. I can't stop this." Ashley close her face with her palm.

"I know it's hard for you, Ash. But, try it." Callista smiled. Try to make her best friend feel a little bit better.

Suddenly, the canteen become quiet and Ashley look at Ethan again. But, what Ashley feels right now can't be explain by words.

Ashley saw Ethan bring a flower and gave it to Bella. Ashley thought that this was a really bad thing.

"Will you be my girlfriend, Bella?"

And, yeah. That's right. This was a really bad thing for her.

After Ashley heard that, she can't hear anything. She can't think about anything. She just stay quiet. Her heart is really hurting right now.

"Ash. Ashley. We need to go right now." Ashley saw her best friend with a confused and also a sad looks.

Callista pull Ashley hand as fast as she can and bring her best friend to go out from there.

"I... It's really hurt, Cal." Ashley cried and Callista didn't know what to say, so she just hug her best friend.

"Everything will be alright, Ash. You have to be strong. There are many guys out there. Not just Ethan."

Ashley must be grateful because she still have Callista. At least, Callista can make her feel a little bit better.

After a while, Ashley wiped her tears and try to put smile on her face.

"Thank you so much, Cal." Callista smiled and hug Ashley once again.

Since that day, Ashley promise to herself that she will changed. She will changed her looks, her attitude, and everything. And she will try to forget about anything that related to that man. Ethan Bradley.
