Chapter 5:
I say ok and I leave to go get ready for the "prom" as everyone is calling it. I am super excited, not because of going with Deven but because I get to feel pretty for once in my life. Well I guess that I have felt pretty a couple times before but this...this is beautiful. I walk over and look at this beautiful dress and I hear a knock on my door. I thought it was Deven but it was Maddie. I was happy that it was Maddie because I clearly was not ready. Maddie comes in with her dress on, her heels on, and she is out of breathe.
"Maddie, omg what happened to you?" I asked.
"They chased.......me down and..and your........" She says leaving me hanging before she passes out on my bed.
"Your what, Maddie, no no no no no not now Maddie wake up, I need you to tell me what's next!" I scream.
Then I hear two guards coming to my room and I start running out of the emergency exits around my room. I grab Maddie and carry her down the emergency exit. after I escape I slap Maddie and she nearly got up and slapped me with he MMA skills after I woke her. I explained to her how she left me hanging and asked her why they are chasing me.
"Maddie, where were you and where did you come from?" I ask.
"I came from "prom" before guards told me to come with them and I just started running!" she exclaims
"How do you know it involves me?" I ask.
"Because when I ran off all I hear is if we can get Maddie we will get Leyla, so I came to give you a warning." She says.
I wonder what it could be but I decide to just go back in and deal with whatever was ahead of me. As I walked in the guards only told me they were looking for me because Deven was looking for me and couldn't find me. Awe, his caring sweet soul. I told Maddie the coast was clear and we walked in. I told Deven I was fine but I wasn't ready and to give me about half an hour to do my hair and the other half to get dresses. I take a lot of time to do things. Then he smiles and walks away. I quickly run and tell Christina to do my hair and help me get my dress on. Christina one again puts my hair in this long ponytail which I thought looked a bit longer than usual but it didn't matter. Maddie tells me I looked beautiful and then Christina straightens Maddie's beautiful wavy hair. I sit in the front of the hall and wait. There I sit with Maddie, and some other girls waiting to be picked up by their dates. All I could think about was my first dance, or my first kiss, and if we were meant to be. Maddie then snaps her fingers in my face because she notices I'm day dreaming, then points over and I see Deven in this handsome tux and tie. He says may I. I eagerly reply yes. Jus as that conversation ended, Jack, came to pick Maddie up. We asked Christina if she would take pictures of Maddie and I, then Maddie and Jack, then Deven and I, and lastly all four of us. The pictures came out beautiful. As I looked around the place I see a crystal ball room, with a chandler, and a photo booth. It's pretty cool. Then we vote for prom king and queen like we usually do. Of course it went to Noah and his girlfriend. The line at the photo booth was to long so we just took selfies on our phones. After I congratulated Noah but it was pretty awkward because of the whole forgive thing even though I actually didn't thing about it. I realized that tomorrow starts team fighting, then singles, then they announce winners,and at the end we have another celebration and get to go home. But don't let the four categories make it seem like four days. No, they are actually 4 weeks. It's been about 3 and I miss my family. But secretly inside I know Maddie does not miss hers. After this she wants to move to Africa, the farthest part of Africa away from where her family lives. Wait until she finds out the tickets are like thousands of dollars and she has to get three shots just to fight against diseases. The prom look beautiful but you could tell it was Wisdom games theme. First when you walk in you see a station to throw knives at balloons. next thing you see is another person shredded their dress on "accident" playing the game or broke a nail trying to get the knife out of its case. Who gets mad about that, just cut your nails and re paint them. Then next to that is a station for punch. The punch is bright red, and might be the brightest thing in the room besides a couple peoples dresses. The walls were light gray, pink, and periwinkle blue. I went to get punch with Maddie, then we went back to our dates. Of course they are going to play a slow song. Deven twirls me and then I rest my head on his shoulder. As I look over my shoulder at Maddie and Jack, Maddie winks at me and I wink back. I look back down and close my eyes. I look back up again and see Maddie and Jack kissing. I then feel something warm touch my forehead. it's Deven's lips. He starts kissing my forehead. I just ignore it. *Should I look up and kiss him, or just let him kiss my head and let whatever is going to happen, happen.* I think to myself. I look up and kiss him. It felt so magical because I feel pretty and kissed Deven. Ahhh. Perfect just Perfect. This day can't possibly get worse. But it can get better. I see almost very other couple kissing, including me and Deven. It was 10:00. I started getting tired but kept dancing. I passed out int Devens arms. He laid me I the closest chair there was and I could here what was going on around me and people trying to wake me up, I guess I just never tried to wake up. Next thing I know is Maddie, Jack, and Deven sitting on the chairs in my room. They explained to me what happened. They told me I passed out but they never knew why. I laid in my comfy bed and looked at the mirror. If you have ever heard the song "I woke up like this" I actually woke up like this. My hair was down to to my knees.
"Why is my hair so long?" I asked looking so confused.
"I don't really know, honestly!" Deven says.
I peer over and look at Maddie. She just shrugs her shoulder. Deven just suggest that if I've been drinking water, my hair probably just grew. Well I don't see it that way. Your hair doesn't just grow 1 foot in 1 day. I totally just dismiss it and listen to Deven. I look at my hair and Maddie braids it. She braids it because I don't really know what to do with 4 foot hair. This doesn't really make any sense. My day went so perfect. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
