For the rest of the trip back I kept my distance from Marcus. And now we're back. I slowly pulled to a stop in front of the pack house and sighed before getting out. I was promptly knocked onto my ass when two wolves jumped on me. The twins. "Off! Can't- breath!"
Marcus growled as they got off and helped me up. He pulled me back into his chest and my cousins got curious looks. 'What happened on the trip Ally? Are you hurt anywhere?'
'I'm fine Kyle, Kristin. I saw Jonah, and Fredrick.'
'Frednick! Is he a Rouge?'
I shook my head sadly as the twins, "It's a long story."
"And Jonah?" Kyle asked. "Is he okay?"
"He's... well he's Jonah. Which is to say that I'm not sure he was okay before."
He smiled then narrowed his eyes at Marcus's arms around me. Kristin put her hand on his shoulder to calm her brother and then turned back to me. "Did you see them?"
I nodded as pain stabbed my heart. Sometimes I forget how much my cousins loved my parents. Their aunt and uncle. Lydia made a noise of sympathy before hugging me. "You okay?"
I nodded and pulled away from Marcus, "I'll be fine. I always am Lyd." She nodded and started messing with my hair. I ducked under her hands only to suffer the same assault from my aunt. I softly slapped her hands away, "My hair is fine Virginia."
She frowned, "Just let me fix it a bit."
"Let the poor girl be," Jeff laughed and wrapped his arms around her. "How are you honey?"
"I'm fine. I was only gone for a couple of weeks. You guys always act like you haven't seen me in years."
"Well you would never visit us!" My aunt and her theatrics.
"Not true, I just had my own place," I countered.
Of course her letting it go would be too easy. After all, there was a reason I didn't live with her for more then a couple of months. "You never came though! You could have stay with us. Like the twins. Or lived closer. Or visited more. You always left on trips but you never came to spend a couple of weeks with us." Oh boy. She's really about to get into it if someone doesn't stop her soon. I looked to Jeff with wide hopeful eyes. He held his hands up shaking his head. Coward. Luckily though, Marcus did. "Perhaps we could discuss this after she has had some sleep. It's been a long drive."
Marcus pulled me away before my aunt had enough time to ponder his words. We when got to his rooms I breath a sigh of relief. "Thanks. Much longer and there'd be no escaping."
"She cares about you," he said.
I shrugged and sat down at the desk. "I know, but she worries too much. Losing my mom was hard for her. For everyone. But they were close. I look so much like her, like both of them, my aunt worries that she'll lose me too. After all I'm not exactly one much for caution."
"Nothing's going to happen to you." He said protectively. It was more to himself than me.
I thought back and prayed he was right. But the incident still haunted me. I shook my head to keep the memory back. I pushed into the box it's been locked in for years. "Careful Alpha, someone might think you care."
He was in front of me and gripping my forearms painfully in two seconds flat. I resisted the urge to flinch back as he growled. "I do care, dammit, Alicia. Why can't you see that?"
"You don't know me," I said.
"You won't let me." He sounds frustrated.
"Just get another mate and let me go, Marcus." I tried pulling out of his grip but he's stronger than me because he's an Alpha. And well, sadly he's my mate. My body wouldn't let me break free because it doesn't want to.
