December 7th 1778

Colonel Hauburgen house was large enough to fit four large families, With two proper barns behind it and carefully tended fields spreading in every direction. The Militia had pitched there tents around the house. A couple dozen of them stood smoking pipes and soaking up the sun enjoying the day. A few heald wooden plates with remainds of sunday nights dinner.

"Do you think we're too late?" I asked

"Maybe theirs someone in the kitchen" Eben Answered "I'll find the captain and meet you in the back" I nodded in acceptance he went though the door while i wove my way though the crowd. The talk was mix between English and dutch I could understand more war news; more British ships were crossing the ocean, more hessian being hired to kill us. One man claimed Spanish were going to invade us from Flordia, Many and I didn't believe him yet he swore his truth on his mother.

I hurried on

The food had been served behind the house near the kitchen door, where a long board rested along three barrels to make a table where  Crumbs and corn littered one end of the board; the rest was covered with dirty trenchers and empty bowls.  An empty soup pot was laying on the ground on its side. Sat on the wooden chair was 3 slices of sweet apple pie waiting for the right lad to come around. The kitchen door swung open and out came a round cheek wearing a blue dress and a white apron that complemented her black tone. She was not old enough to be anyone heres mother she smiled warmly at me and muttered something in dutch The door open again and came out the tallest man Id ever seen came out carrying two kettles of steaming water kissing the round cheeked women on the forehead signalling that he was her husband.

I nodded polietly "Good Day"

The women chuckled "Wat wil je, jij blaag?"'

"Pardon me?!"

"Wil je taart, dan moet je uit de oorlog zijn"

"I'm sorry mam, But I do not understand"

"She has no English" The tall man said "I do. I am baumfree. Min vrouw, She is bett. You?"

"I am James." I nodded "Pleased to meet you and your lady" I bowed making me shorter

"het is me een genoegen je te ontmoeten" That sounded friendly enough "May I. . .Can I. . ." I pointed at the pie making a motion showing I wanted to eat it

"For Sojurs" the man translated "No You, No Me, No Bett"

I nodded confused I struggled to figgure his meaning

"You?" The tall man said "Sojur?" I nodded and he handed me the pie I bowed thanking him and ran to Eben feeding him first as he was skinner and more in need of it I eventually found him after a while of searching handing him the plate he looked surprised Before I knew it he gulped it down and I ate what was a left, the sugary substance fell down my throat i tried to slowly eat it but my body was so hungry i didn't even bother.

"Treat Aliliana Well," Benny mumbled

"What?" I was surprised
