Mother turns off the light
You pull the covers up
To your chest
Eyelids flutter
Dark eyelashes close
Over the sea of blue
Gracefully over the ruddy face.
'Sweet dreams' she said
But the little creatures heard not
They crept in through the open window
And climbed up on your bed.
They heard you snoring softly
Their cloaks of grey invisible
In the moonlight
They crept up to your forehead
Invaded your dreams
Your world turns black
And you wake screaming
When the sun appears
Over the hills.
