Cowardly hiding under a table as the foot steps faded, he prepared himself to peak out and check to make sure she was gone. All of a sudden arms wrapped around his waist. "Hello Big Brother." A soft and sweet voice whispered in his ear. The nation turned his head slightly to see his sister looking at him through passion filled eyes. "Belarus! Get off of me!" He shouted and tried to push her hands off from around his waist. "But I don't want to Big Brother!" She said in a voice tone mixture of enjoyment and whining.
Finally getting free, Russia quickly crawled out from the table and got to his feet. Belarus was Russia's younger sister, who wishes to marry him someday although he fears her. Belarus does not like the idea of anyone else being around her brother, and tends to remain at his side to threaten those that come near. Russia honestly does fear his sister, she was always so forceful and demanding and she always made her point with her knife. But then again Russia was the same way, only he used his pipe to make his point clear to the other nations. Russia knew this deep down inside. Other countries feared Russia, just like he feared his sister.
Russia risked a glance back at his little sister who was crawling her way from under the table. They had been doing this for quite some time now. Russia always running away when Belarus chased him. Sometimes Russia would think of it like a game, a very scary game but a game never the less. Belarus on the other hand never thought of it as a game. She truly loved her brother and she wanted no one else, sure she had offers from handsome and kind countries but she turned them all down, mostly. She loved her brother with all her heart and no matter what she would keep coming back to him. No matter how much each of his rejections hurt. No matter how much her heart ached to be in his arms and have him tell her he loved her. Even if it wasn't the same love that she had for him, even if the love he had for her only reached to the point of siblings. That would make her heart stop aching just a bit.
"Big Brother, don't run away from me!" Belarus shouted a bit angry. This had gone on long enough. They say that everyone has a breaking point, Belarus was about to hit hers. Russia couldn't help but feel guilty for the sadness and hurt that laid in his sister's eyes. Belarus couldn't help but say what was about to come out of her mouth this time. She couldn't help but shout out the words she'd long to tell him. What she'd been holding back, as to not scare him off any farther. "Why won't you love me Big Brother!? Why!? Why won't you love me like I love you!? Why do you have to run away and leave me alone!? Don't leave me alone Big Brother! Please!" Tears began streaming down her face, Russia's eyes widen. He had never seen Belarus cry, never. Not once had she cried in front of him, or anyone for that matter. Afraid that more would spill out of her mouth she turned and ran off. Not wanting her brother to see her in such a state.
Russia watched his sister run away. He slowly lifted his hand over his heart, a confused look on his face. He had never felt a feeling like this. He felt grief, guilt, remorse, sadness. The list could go on as he tried to explain what the feeling was. "Little Sister......" He muttered under his breath and closed his eyes. He could remember every moment he had ever had with his little sister. He remember all the good, the bad, and the ugly. From the first time she proposed to him, to the first time she tried to smother him in his sleep. He caught himself smiling at another memory of his sister. This one was his favorite.
It was a cold mid winter afternoon in Russia's home. The snow and ice were horrible outside. Russia had just arrived home from another uneventful meeting with the other countries. He hated those idiots, most of them anyway. As he walked up to his room to relax he heard voices coming from his living room. Curiosity filled him and he walked into his living room to see both his sisters had come to visit him. Big Sister Ukraine and Little Sister Belarus. Russia smiled after seeing them both. Ukraine wasn't allowed to visit Russia, but Belarus sometimes would sneak her away to see Russia. Belarus thought that this would be a good way to get her brother to love her.
"Russia!" Ukraine said jumping up from the couch, her boobs bouncing with her. Russia chuckled at his Big Sister's reaction. Belarus stood up and looked at Russia smiling. "Hello Big Brother." She said in a bit of a creepy way. "Hello, what are you all doing here?" He asked them smiling. Its not like he didn't want them here, its just it was rare for both of them to be here at the same time. "We came to see you silly! Its been so long since we have see you!" Ukraine said in her usually cheerful way. "Great!" Russia replied happily. Russia was only happy with his sisters..... and sunflowers and warm weather, but mostly with his sisters.
Hours went by and past as the three spent the day together. Belarus always clinging to Russia's side and Ukraine happily standing next to her, as not to get in between Belarus and Russia, a mistake no country would dare to make. Ukraine checked the clock and shrieked. "Oh no! Its already that time! I have to go, I'll see you some other day Russia!" She said and quickly ran out the door, leaving Russia and Belarus alone. "Shouldn't you be getting home too?" Russia asked his little sister. She nodded and stood up. "Oh wait..... I....I forgot to give you something." She said a bit nervously. "Wait here." She said and ran down one of the halls. A slight ripple of fear over coming him. What was she getting? What was she going to do?
Belarus walked back out with a hand behind her back, prepared to run Russia waited. "Big Brother....." Belarus said nervously and the quickly pulled out her hand shoving the object toward his face. Russia's eyes widen as he looked at the beautiful yellow flower. "A sunflower?" He asked surprised by the gift. Belarus nodded. "Yes. I wanted to get you a surprise Big Brother." She smiled. "Ukraine helped me pick it out..... so I guess its from her too, but.... Happy Birthday Big Brother." She said happily. Russia looked at her shocked. Birthday....... he glanced over at a calender. December 30th. How could he of forgotten his own birthday. Belarus suddenly became nervous. "D-do you not like it Big Brother?" Russia quickly shook his head and smiled. "No..... I love it." He said and took the sunflower. Belarus smiled again, happy.
With a sigh at the memory he couldn't help but feel bad. Something inside of him fluttered every time he thought of his sister. It never happened when he thought of Ukraine, or any other country for that matter, only Belarus. He quickly turned his head in the direction his sister ran off in and started walking. He had to find his sister. He had to tell her.
Belarus sat crying on the bottom steps that lead up to the second floor. Lithuania had passed by a few times and tried to help her and figure out what was wrong. Lithuania had always had a slight crush on Belarus, while she had always hated his guts. With a sigh she finally stop her sobbing and kept her face buried in her hands. She knew her brother would never love her, never. She jumped in surprised when she heard someone say her name. "Belarus." A deep voice in a thick Russian accent said. Looking up Belarus saw her brother standing in front of her. "What do you want Big Brother?" Belarus said standing up, preparing to leave. She was still hurt by what her brother had done. She was getting tired of him always leaving her. Always......
Russia looked at her, he could tell that she was still upset. He took a step toward her and hugged her, Belarus was a bit surprised by this. "I'm sorry Little Sister....." He whispered as he held on to her. Belarus had never seen her brother act like this toward her, not once. "Big Brother......?" Russia hugged her tighter. "I won't leave you anymore Little Sister. I won't leave you alone. I promise." He whispered repetitively. Tears grew in Belarus eyes, she quickly blinked them away. "What are you saying Big Brother?" She asked, she wanted to try and push the confection of love out of him. She wanted to know that he loved her. She needed to know. "I love you." He whispered then loosened his hug to kiss her.
Belarus had dreamed of this day all her life. She never thought it would happen. She never thought that this would be possible. She kissed her brother back happily, the loneliness she had felt moments before turned into something, a warm and gentle feeling. Russia broke the kiss and looked down at Belarus, her blue-ish violet eyes starring up at him sparkling. His heart fluttered and he felt like weightless, like a million pounds were lifted off of his back. As he starred at his sister he knew that the feeling he felt at the very moment was something that the other countries called love. He never thought that a cold and some what cruel country like himself could feel like this, but as he looked into those sparkling eyes he was reassured that he could and did feel this way. For her. For Belarus, his one and only.
