Rude Awakening

The sound of a vibrating phone shook the whole bed-frame as Noctis was forced out of his slumber. First he hesitated and tried to fall back asleep to the sound of his phone, but even for him it was too distracting. His bloodshot red eyes burned as he threw his body sideways and reached for his device. The time read 11:37 PM and a small notification popped up reading "Missed Call~ Prompto 🐤 " .

"What does he want at this time of the night?" Noct Groaned while rubbing his sleepy eyes.
He threw the phone back onto his nightstand and stared at the wall for a while.

The prince burrowed his head back into his pillow and slowly began drifting back to sleep... Until the rapid beeping noise came through once more.
"Prompto!" Noct grunted, outstretching his slender arm once more.

The screen lit up with messages.
"Hey sleepy head."
"U awake?"
"I can't sleep."
"Talk to me?"

This time Noct was angry so he snatched the phone and unlocked it with his passcode. The white light from his screen lit up his messy apartment. His fingers began moving quickly as he spewed words onto the screen.
"I'm tired -_-." ~ Noct
"It's not even that late!"~ Prompto
"Ugh. Night." ~ Noct
"Wait. I need to talk to you. Seriously."~ Prompto
"Quickly then. I want to go back into dreamland." ~ Noct
"No. In person, I'm too lazy to type it all out." ~ Prompto
"Speak in school tomorrow then."~ Noctis
"Now? Please?! I'll make it up to you!"~ Prompto

There was a long pause as Noct decided whether he actually wanted to get out of bed.

"Fine. But you owe me. See you in 5?." ~ Noct.
"Deal, Sounds Good :)"~ Prompto

The sound of a sigh echoed through Noctis' empty room. He peeled the white duvet from off of his slender body and threw his pale legs over the side. The cool air bit his naked body, in response he reached for his clothing.
Very slowly, he slipped into a black t-shirt and a pair of loosely fitting black trousers.

He stumbled through the dark while searching for his grey jacket to shield him from the cool air of the night. The soft material made contact with his hand and then later his skin as he put it on.

A knock was heard on the door. Noct casually walked towards it while yawning and opened it to reveal the awake, blonde haired boy.

"You really can't wake up can you?" Prompto laughed while teasing his best friend.

"Funny." The sarcastic comment Noct spoke whilst laughing back.

Noct waved his arm to indicate that Prompto could enter his home. Pots and pans stacked high in his sink and take out food trash littered the apartment.

"I see Ignis hasn't been..." Prompto made the daring comment
Noct only replied with an awkward smile.

The blonde boy stood near the door way with a much different nature to his usual self. He looked towards the floor as he rubbed his knuckles until they were red.
Noctis noticed.

"Hey so you didn't come here just to shame me on my cleaning habits I hope." Noct playfully punched his arm.

"Heh... no not today." A fake laugh was let out.

Noctis' eyebrows raised, "You okay?"

"Me? Yeah of course... just wanted to..." he failed to finish before stuttering too much.

"Here." Noct gripped onto his arm and led him to the white sofa where he sat down, upright and feeling unwelcome.

"You were saying?" Noct sat down next to him.

"You know what. Never mind. It's not important." Prompto tried to act happier.

"You sure?" Noct grew concerned, " If its about school then I don't know why you're worrying." He continued to laugh.

"Heh. No this is different, but it's okay." Prompto finally looked up at the blue haired boy and he exchanged a smile, but obvious tears were hidden behind his eyes.

"You hungry? Wanna grab a bite?" Noct tried to change the subject to get Prompto more engaged.

"Ermm..." Prompto scratched the back of his head.

"Ill buy." Noct winked.

Before Prompto could reply, Noct swiftly stood up and gripped onto Prompto's arm to follow. The sound of rattling keys travelled through the room as Noctis swiped his keys and phone off of his nightstand. They both walked to the door together and left silently. Prompto watched as Noct locked his door tightly.

"So, where is it you like to eat? Your choice tonight and that's rare, so take the opportunity while you can. You did wake me up after all and it can't be for nothing now!" Noct playfully punched Prompto once more.

"Honestly, I've never really eaten anything from the restaurants. I've never left this district really." His blonde hair bounced as he walked down the corridor.

"Wait, you've never left the area of the neighbourhood and school?" This was new news to Noct.

"Yep. Never. I was too afraid."

"Of What? The city is a safe place."

"Not for people like me..."

"C'mon you're killing the mood. You're still human at the end of the day remember." Noct smiled.

"Sure..." Prompto shivered.
