Another investigation as per usual. Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej were in some "haunted asylum" or "haunted prison" or something. The date is December 19, 2017 and it's the last taping of an Buzzfeed Unsolved episode for the season and everyone goes on vacation for the holidays. But in all honesty Shane is not excited about leaving. The holidays just aren't Shane's favorite time of the year.
It's always been a little hard going home after his mother passed away 5 years ago. He gets very upset and aggravated around this time, compared to his usual laid back attitude. Although he usually has things to get his mind off his hardships like work, working out, living his basic daily life, and as of late, working on Buzzfeed Unsolved with his very good friend Ryan. When Shanes around Ryan he can usually get really spaced out and goofy like his usual self, sometimes he becomes super comfortable around Ryan to the point where he has to watch himself. He doesn't know what it is that makes him feel this way but it puts him on edge and yet at the same time comforts him.
This time of course he's more tense than usual, he's good at hiding it but only for a while when the cameras are rolling. This was an overnight investigation so the other camera men were gone and it was just Ryan and Shane. Ryan was doing the usual trying to talk to the "spirits", and jumping at every sound that happened after he asked a question. "If you're here with us....touch me" Ryan said. With that shane slowly and secretly put his arm around Ryans back to tap him on the shoulder. Ryan jumped and Shane let out a maniacal laughter. "Fuck you man, uhg you're such a dick haha" Ryan blurted out. Shane was taken a bit back. Ryan usually says this kinda stuff but this time shane felt like that was kind of personally offended this time. 'N-nah this is how Ryan always is', Shane thought to himself. "Oh c'mon Ryan you didn't actually think that was some ghost did you?" Shane said snickering, trying to lighten the mood as he always does. "Yes you scared me half to death you jerk" Ryan scoffed. 'I'm not a jerk!' Shane thought. Shanes thoughts slowly began to turn sour.
He honestly hated it when Ryan would just go in on him, borderline bullying him. They kept exploring the facility. Walking through the corridors, while the building was beautiful, Shane was underwhelmed he always was, as much as he supposed they were kinda creepy he had Ryan with him and the crew most of the time so by himself he might be creeped but he was always with people in places like these. Ryan seemed to wander into a side room. Walking in both men see graffiti everywhere spelling out foul words and sayings. "So you're not scared like at all?" Ryan asks Shane like he almost does every investigation being shocked by Shanes sense of calmness. "Uhh...No an old room with graffiti and a bad paint job is my worst fear Ryan."
They both softly chuckled, Ryan then turned around leaving the room. "God you're such a freak haha." Shane began walking out too but stopped in the doorway because of Ryan's harsh comment. Ryan kept walking but stopped when he didn't hear Shanes footsteps follow. He turned and flashed his light on Shane's face. He looked...scary..."Are you coming? Or do you want to just chill here with the demons?" Ryan gave a nervous laugh. "I'm not a freak." Shane just said in a monotone voice giving Ryan a cold stare. Shane could see Ryans face drop then begin to smile nervously "Heh.. Shane you know..I don't mean that...I just.." Shane looked the other direction then back at Ryan. "Whatever.." Shane started walking Ryans way passing him to continue wandering but Ryan just stood there in confusion. Did he really hurt Shanes feelings? But..Shanes been mean too...

"Yeah!?" Ryan yells out Shane stops and turns to look at the smaller man with a confused angry look on his face. "Well all you do is-is make fun of me! And-and make me seem stupid for believing in ghosts!" Ryan yelped in defense. "Oh my god are you shitting me right now Ryan? Uhg here you go again turning it into all about you the Ryan Bergara show!" Shane yelled back seeming more mad and more intimidating. Ryan stood back. "N-no that's not what I mean I just.. You're not the only one who feels like you're being made fun of!" The cameras were off by now this wasn't something to be recorded. "Do you ever just think about how other people are feeling before you just rip on them and say whatever you want!?" Ryan was now shaking, he always let things like this really work him up. "Well it just sucks when all you do is tell me how everything I believe in is wrong! And how you just completely blow off hard evidence too! It just it makes me think... you don't even want to do this!"
Ryan could feel his stomach turn while he just yells at Shane. Shane just looked at him, tired with everything, with whats going on now, with life, with his family. "Jesus.." Shane scoffs. "No wonder Brent didn't want to do this, you're such a cry baby." Shane whispered but knew that Ryan could hear him. Shane turned around and started walking away. Then he could hear Ryans fast footsteps and toppled over when Ryan pushed Shane to the ground. "What the fuck Ry-" Shane looked up to see Ryan with tears streaming down his face, breathing heavily and a red face. "Fuck you, you don't even want to do this do you!?" Shane realized what he'd done, he'd beyond struck a chord. "Ryan.." Before he could say much Ryan stormed away. Shane stood up and just watched him run off and before he could knew it Ryan was gone down the corridor. Shane stood up "Ryan come back you'll get lost!" But he was gone. 'Uhg.." Shane thought 'well better go find him'.
Shane began his search for Ryan, checking corridors and rooms. He couldn't believe he ran off like that, he's really upset to do that he hates being alone in places like these. All of a sudden in a side room Shane saw a bright light. "Ryan!" He yelled he ran towards the room. "Ryan I can't beli-" He stopped and his heart sank to his stomach. "...Mom?" In front of him, glowing white in a beautiful white dress was his late mother. He slowly walked to her with this hand out shaking and tears beginning to fall down his face. "Wha- I don't understa-" Shane started. "Shane... baby it's me, mom...Im sorry I'm coming to you now."
The white ghostly woman reached out and held Shanes cheek. She was freezing but Shane didn't care, he loved feeling her hand again. "Th-this can't be real.." Shane backed up from her. "Oh Shane it is, please believe me." She herself looked sad. Shane couldn't have been going insane or seeing things, he could feel her hand. "Oh my god.." Shane began sobbing. "E-everyone misses you so much." Shane said hiccuping and stuttering his way through his words. "I know I miss all of you too baby." She said solemnly. "Please don't be so angry about everything, you're hurting the people around you, they care about you too much." Shane knew she was talking about Ryan and well about everyone else. "I'm sorry...I've just been so lost without you." Shane clenched his fists as more tears rolled down his cheeks.
"It's okay my love, I know they all forgive you, even that boy with you here, Ryans his name?" Shanes eyes widened, it must be real she never knew about Ryan. "Y-yeah I hope he forgives me...god I was such an ass to him." Shane lowered his head in shame. "Don't worry I'll fix everything all you gotta do is apologize to him...and really let him know how you feel." She winks at Shane as her lifts his head and blushes. "How do you-" "When you live in the afterlife and watch over people you definitely pick up on some things. And don't worry I know he feels the same way." Shane gets flustered as his mom talks about his crush on his best friend. "You don't mind that I-" "Oh please you think I came back to tell you I don't like you being bisexual?" Shane chuckled. "Yeah you're right.." Shane scratched the back of his head. "So what are you doing here then?" Shane asked looking back up to her. "To help you, you said earlier you felt lost. Shane, I've been watching you and looking over you the whole time. You need reassurance here to let you know that I never left I'm always here." She smiled warmly.
"Mom..." Shane said softly with a smile coming across his face and his eyes began tearing up yet again. She floated his way and embraced him. "You are growing everyday baby and you still need some help every bit of the way." She backed up to get a good look at him before she had to leave. "You need to realise everyone in your life is there for a reason to help you. Your friends at your job, your Family, even Ryan. Also never forget I'm here baby, even if I'm far, I'm always here. Always." Shane now again was sobbing. "Y-yeah you're right...You always know what to say..." She backed away from him and brushed the tears off his face. "Go find him...and change yourself for the better baby, and if you're ever lost again just know who's the light that will lead you to follow your path again." She places her hands over each other over the front of her dress. "I have to go baby but we will meet again, far from now, but we will one day." Shane knew this would have to happen. He never wanted her to leave,he wanted Ryan to meet her, he wanted dad to see her again too. "Alright...I love you mom..." Shane put up his hand to sadly wave to her. "Goodbye baby, I love you my little shaniac" She giggled and waved her hand. Her ghostly image began to disperse in white orbs and eventually she disappeared into thin air.
Shane wiped his eyes from crying and smiled knowing that she'll always be with him. "Sh-shane?" Shane heard a soft voice from behind him and a light flash flood into the room. Shane quickly turned around to see Ryan shaking and crying. "Shane!" "Ryan!" both of them ran to each other embracing. "Shane! I'm so sorry!" Ryan cried into Shanes shoulder in between hiccuping sobs. "No-no I'm sorry Ryan I shouldn't have said the things I said." Shane responded. "B-but I'm always so mean and I call you names." Shane pulls away from the hug to look at Ryan. "But that doesn't mean I should've said the things I said." Ryan sheepishly rubs his eyes. "I shouldn't be so mean either...I'm sorry, I've been lost for a long time but my minds more clear now." Ryan looked confused as to what brought this up. "Whats brought all this up?" Ryan said. "Ah I don't know knowing what I said made you that upset made me realise that.." Shane lied. Ryan began to blush at Shane feeling that bad about making him feel bad. 'That's why...I think I'm ready for this." "Huh?" Ryan could get out before Shane pulled him closer and touched his lips with Ryans. Ryan kissed back and putting his arms around Shane's neck. Shane instinctively put his arms around Ryans hips. Shane pulled away looking at Ryan all flustered, shane felt flustered himself he could feel his cheeks get hot. "Sorry doing that took so long." Shane mustered out.
Both men felt short of words because of the situation. "I don't care just do it again." Ryan huffed. This time Ryan got on his tippy toes to kiss Shane. Shane more than willing to return it. They just stood there embracing for a while before letting go of each other and holding hands. "So how long have you.." Shane looked at Ryan. "I don't know.. Heh... I guess after the Queen Mary..I'd never thought you'd-" Ryan trailed off. "I'm bi...I've known for a while and I only told certain people... I'm sorry for not telling you earlier." Ryan looked a little shocked but he put a smile back on his face. "I guess I like the way you came out to me hehe.." Ryan sheepishly laughed. "Haha Yeahh..." Shane rubbed the back of his neck. Shane looked around a little. "Uhh...Why don't we get outta here? Go back to my place?" Ryan looked shocked. "We're supposed to spend the night here! We need to stay don't you think?" Ryan grasped Shane's arm. "We can tell 'em there was an emergency and needed to leave. They'll understand and we can just use the footage we have now." Ryan didn't really want to spend the night anyways. "Hmmm I mean I guess you're right..." Ryan said looking behind him at the creepy, dark, decrepit hallway behind him. "Let's go." Ryan turned around to see Shane with one of his hands held out for Ryan to grab ahold of. "Yeah let's go." Ryan said as he grabbed Shanes hand to leave the asylum. As they walked out they sat down on the steps to call an Uber. "Hey Ryan.." Shane spoke softly while he looked up at the night sky. "Yeah?" Ryan said as he pulled his phone. "Have I ever told you about my mom?" Shane said as her just kept staring into the stars. Ryan took his eyes off his phone to pay more attention to Shane. "Uhm no I don't think you have...tell me about her.."
