"Hi." He smiled looking up at me.
"Haven't we already been through this?" I asked.
"Yeah, uh, sorry." He laughed,"Where's my sister?"
"Sleeping."
"Oh well, I'm going to go take a shower." He clammed up.
"Okay." Hayes walked up the stairs and into his room. I sat down on the couch with a brownie and my phone and waited. I checked the time again.
9:44 pm.
"You're still here?" He came downstairs and I turned around.
"Oh sorry." I quickly turned back around and covered my eyes.
"Hayes I'm so sorry."
"It's okay, I don't mind." I uncovered my eyes and kept them on my phone.
"Want a brownie." He stood in front of me, holding out a brown square.
"Thanks." I said, trying to keep my focus on his face. I don't really understand why he didn't put clothes on (besides a towel), and I have a feeling that he knew I was still here.
"Hayes, can you please put some proper clothes on?"
"Sorry." He scurried back up the stairs and came down again with shorts and a t shirt on.
"Thank you." I smiled.
"Do you wanna play a game or something?" Hayes asked.
"Uhh sure. Which one?" I rested my chin on the edge of the couch.
"I wanna get to know you," he sat down next to me and I turned my focus back to him.
"Okay."
"Twenty questions?"
"Okay." I replied.
"We'll alternate. I'll go first."
"Shoot."
"So, Rose...how many siblings do you have?"
"Two brothers. How many do you have?"
"I have two brother as well, how old are yours?"
"15 and 20. What sport do you play?"
"Lacrosse, football, and basketball. Do you play any sports?"
"Volleyball."
"Volleyball seems like a cool sport, maybe I could come to one of your games sometime."
"Maybe. Do you like the brownies I made?"
"Of course. Did you think it was funny when I fell?"
"Yes I did." I laughed. And he just smiled at me.
"Did you know Rose that your laugh is highly contagious?"
"We're home." Mrs. Grier walked through the door.
"Oh, Hayes you're home." Mrs. Grier laid her keys down on the counter.
"Hey Nila, hey dad." Hayes replied and I stood up.
"Thank you so much for having me. Skylynn was absolutely wonderful."
"I'm glad to hear. So that's $60?"
"Yes ma'am." She handed me the cash.
"Thank you so much!"
"Thank you! And you're welcome here anytime!"
"I'll see you later!" I walked out the front door and began toward my house.
"Rose wait!" I turned around and Hayes was running towards me. I needed a break from him tonight. I rolled my eyes.
