I received call after call until he finally gave up. And my phone finally got a chance to get a full battery.
Ever since the kiss I've been ignoring him. I don't know what to think about it all.
Do I want to be his girlfriend? Or not?
I think the only thing holding me back is Shawn, and I need to clear everything. I need to know what to do, I can't keep going and wondering all the time what should I do.
I dialed Shawn's number and laid down on my bed. After two rings, he answered.
"Hello?"
"Shawn, hi."
"Hey Rose." I could hear the smile.
"Hey, can we meet somewhere, like now?"
"Yeah the cafe down the road could work, is everything okay? Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine, just meet me there now." I hung up before pulling on my tennis shoes and running downstairs.
"Dad! Hey! Can I get a ride to that bagel place down the road?"
"Why?"
"Dad can you please just-"
"Why?" I rolled my eyes in annoyance towards him.
"I'm meeting with a friend, like, now."
"Is this a guy friend?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Yes father but only a friend, now let's get a move on." I pushed as his stomach but he still didn't move.
"Daddy!" I whined and slouched.
"I'm playing kiddo, come on."
"You irritate me." I groaned before following him into the garage.
-
I walked into the shop to see Shawn sitting at the counter. His head shot up at the sound of the door. He popped out of his seat and paced over to me, embracing me in a hug.
"What's wrong? You look a little tense." I shrugged his arms off of me and sat next to his drink at the counter and soon he occupied the seat next to me.
"Hayes kissed me." I blurted.
Shawn's lips pressed together before his head hung in his lap.
"When?" He asked, brown eyes coming back to mine.
"Four days ago."
"Have you talked to him?" I shook my head.
"Has he called you?"
"Relentlessly." I sighed and tapped my fingers at the counter.
"Okay," he sighed with disappointment,"he really really likes you and if you like him, it's totally okay. I have to go back home soon anyway and I just want you to be happy."
"But-"
"Don't even deny we don't have anything between us because we've been flirting non stop. You can't deny that." He laughed and I did too. And his words finally hit me.
"You're leaving?" He nodded.
"Wh-"
"Two days." He put up two fingers before sipping his drink.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Because I didn't want to hurt you, Rose. Who wants to hurt a girl named Rose?" He lips curved and his eyes crinkled.
"Yeah, but I have to go to South Carolina tonight." My eyes widened.
"So, you're leaving-"
"In like three hours." I stood before pulling his hands and wrapping my arms around him.
"I'm going to miss you so much." I mumbled into his shirt.
"You don't even know how much I'll miss you, Rose." I wanted this hug to last forever, but my vibrating back pocket ruined it.
"Hey Ansel." I sighed.
"Hey, dad told me where you were. I'm coming to pick you up like now."
"Okay." And I hung up on him.
"My brother is on his way."
"We'll see each other again. I promise." His hands held my small cheeks.
"Pinky promise?" I teased and put out my pinky.
A grin on his lips formed before his pinky locked with mine. And another vibration erupted from my pocket.
Ansel: get your butt out here :(
"I have to go." I giggled before wrapped my arms around Shawn one last time for a while.
"Goodbye-" he tried.
"Nope. See you later." I finally pulled away and gave him another reassuring smile before, regrettingly, walking out of the cafe.
-
I sprinted down the street as fast as my legs could carry me. This boy was the only thing on my mind and all of my motivation.
My knuckles tapped the door so quickly, anticipating which one would open the door.
And when it finally opened, the boy I wanted to see stood there.
"Hayes!" I jumped onto him. Since he didn't expect my jump, we stumbled to the ground in laughter.
"Rose!" He mimicked me.
"I'm so so sorry for not returning your calls I just didn't know what to think it was my first kiss and I was scared and my brain was thinking so many different things and-"
"Oh my god slow down before you die." He laughed before sitting up, I moved off of him and sat with my legs crossed.
"I know it was your first kiss." My cheeks heated at his words.
"I could just feel it."
"Oh god." I threw my head in my lap.
"No, no. It wasn't bad,"he laughed,"it was actually amazing." A wide smile grew on my face before he helped me to my feet.
"What's this?" I heard from above me. I looked up to see Mrs. Nila at the top of the stairs.
"Oh, uh, Nila, you remember Rose right?"
"Oh," she giggled,"sorry Rose I didn't recognize you. You guys carry on." She slowly walked down the hallways again, keep an obvious close eye.
"Come on," Hayes tugged my wrist to the basement and I sat on the couch.
"Here." He threw me the Wii remote.
"What?"
"We're watching Netflix." I nodded and flipped through all of the titles once he turned it on.
"Have you ever seen the show Parks and Recreation?" I asked.
"Nope. Never heard of it." My jaw dropped.
"Are you kidding?!"
"No." He slightly laughed, resituating his position.
"Oh my god it's only the best show ever! We're watching it. And when I leave you're still gonna watch it until you finish it."
"So demanding."
"It's mandatory." His arm slid around my side before tugging me closer to his body.
"Whatever you say." I rolled my eyes and playfully scoffed before starting the show.
