"How was your trip?" He asked.

"It was fun, but I'll tell you about it tomorrow. I'm so tired."

"Come on I'll walk you home." Hayes and I walked side by side out of his house. It was pretty silent the whole walk home. His hand brushed against mine once and I wrapped my fingers with his. I felt his hand relax when I did. I barely knew this kid. But I knew that I had liked him already.

"Have a good night Hayes." I smiled and walked to the front door of my house.

"Goodnight beautiful." I turned to him and blushed. Then I walked inside.

"Was that Hayes?" Ansel practically attacked me.

"Yes. Now go to bed you lard." We both laughed and went upstairs. I didn't want to unpack tonight so I just showered and went to bed.

I heard a loud bang that woke me up. I checked the time.

2:03 am.

Why would anyone be up right now?

I creeped out of bed and peeked into the kitchen.

"Why're you out so late?" My mom yelled.

"I'm sorry. But my car broke down!"

"Excuses!" My mom threw another plate on the ground. I wanted to go to Nick's room but he was at a tournament with a friend out of state and I didn't want to wake Ansel because he hasn't slept in a week.

"Jennifer calm down!"

"Shut up!" She yelled back. My parents have never fought before. I started to cry. My mom began to repeatedly throw glass plates and glasses on the floor as they yelled at each other.

I ran back into my room and climbed out the window. I didn't know of anywhere to go but one house. I sprinted down the road in my pajama pants and t shirt. I probably looked ridiculous but I didn't care.

I quickly knocked on the door.

"Rose?" Nash answered the door it looked like he had a friend over.

"Hi, um can I come in?"

"Yeah, what's wrong?" He noticed my tears.

"My home isn't safe right now." I cried.

"I'm so sorry. Do you want to Hayes to know you're here?" He hugged me.

"It doesn't matter." I shrugged.

"Come on." He pulled me upstairs and pushed me in front of Hayes' door.

"Just go in. I know he's awake." Nash then went back into his room. Leaving me in front of the door separating me and Hayes. I turned the knob and slightly pushed it open, closing it behind me. He turned around rapidly.

"Rose? Is that really you?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Come here." He stood up and opened his arms. I quickly embraced into them.

"I'm sorry, it's just I can't be home right now." I cried.

"No, it's okay. If you wanna stay here you can. What happened?"

"My parents are fighting. They never fight."

"I'm sorry." I finally let go of our hug.

"Why're you still up?"

"I couldn't sleep." He shrugged. Then we stared at each other.

"So, Rose. You can take the bed. I'll take the floor."
