An Unexpected Visitor
Keltin strode back and forth across the woollen rugs of his study with one hand stroking his long grey beard. After discovering the familiar touch upon the time ward over his valley, Keltin was distressed beyond words to know his brother Arbinn had finally found him. After all the careful planning centuries ago, how had it all now come to naught? Keltin berated himself.
You know why you old fool. This is not the time for the Destroyer to challenge for freedom. Just because you were young and naïve Keltin, you assumed you had outsmarted the beast that sought to destroy the world and now he has returned.
"Has he learnt of the time spell over your valley?"
Keltin paused. "What?"
"I said has Arbinn learnt of your time spell?"
Keltin stopped before Jarron who was seated at a desk laden with dozens of open books. Barely a day had gone past since his surprised arrival, a few days after Darric's return to the future that the youth did not have his nose firmly planted behind a book or was practising some spell or other. He had stated that the gods had granted him his wish to help his world and at Jarron's request, had delivered him to Keltin's care.
"It is most likely, Jarron which means we have to ensure he does not unravel it and wipe out everything I have worked so hard for over the years."
Jarron shook his head. "I still find it hard to accept that the time spell you have over your valley affects the passing of time as it does. Has it really only been a few months since Eren and I first arrived in Darleay?"
Keltin nodded. "It has, yet in my valley more than three years has passed since you first arrived here from the City of the Gods. A year for every month is the basis of the spell is created to throw off my brother's attentions. It was I thought, one way to gain extra learning time to be a step ahead of our foes. Yet it would seem my idea is not as beneficial as I first thought it would be against my brother."
"I am still blessed to have been given the opportunity to learn so much more here than I had in all my life in Cardinia. The gods hinted that returning to Cardinia would not aid Prince Darric to my fullest ability and that I should look to the past for answers." Jarron smiled lightly. "And when I did, I thought of you and knew this was where I had to be to help the future."
"Up until now you would never have know how much you needed to learn to save your kingdom, I think somehow the gods knew that."
"I still do not understand much of what happened between the beasts on Darleay attacking us and my arriving here. It almost feels like a dream, I recall little more than jagged images of a palace jutting out from a massive mountain with tall crystal spires that glistened brilliantly beneath a violet sun. This amazing palace of crystal was so large that I don't think I saw more than a few chambers within it. I sensed enough to know it stretched for miles and was partly built within a mountain of ice."
"It sounds like an unforgettable place." Keltin stated.
"It was those who resided within the palace that were unforgettable. There were ethereal creatures of such foreboding power, yet tranquillity that no mortal would ever comprehend their existence. It was a place I can only describe as a city within a world of the gods and for the gods. Its glistening beauty is something I will never forget for I shall never see the likes of it again, I'm sure."
"A place not many humans have travelled I'm sure."
"For whatever reason I was granted time in that place, however brief, I will treasure it for eternity, even if it the truth reveals it to be nothing more than a figment of my imagination. I just wish I could remember more of my memories from that place, I know it would help unravel the secrets of the Prophecy for I spent an awful lot of time looking over a very important scroll."
