Assassin Resistance
Bane thrashed against the invisible binds that held him. "Where the hell am I?"
Hours had passed since Arc had dozed off and he woke with a start from the shouting. "What's going on?" Through bleary eyes, Arc could see Bane trying to get off the bed.
"What have you done to me?"
Arc slowly rose from his chair and started walking around the room stretching and yawning. "Just relax, Bane you've had a slight accident, we're taking care of you."
"I can see that! How do you know my name, wizard?"
Arc chuckled as he adjusted his blue robes, retying the yellow sash about the waist.
"A little birdie told me the secret. Now all I've done is ensured you don't go hurting yourself trying to leave before we part with a few secrets we learnt recently." Looking over at the other bed, Arc saw that Kait was still asleep.
"And where would here be exactly?"
"Those are details you need not bother yourself with lad." Arc replied as he walked to the opened door. The long hallway was empty and Daniel was nowhere to be seen. "Daniel!"
Bane struggled against the invisible bindings that held him, shouting off a mouthful of obscenities. "So I am your prisoner then, wizard? I can feel your damn entrapments! You lot have been inside my head."
Arc walked back to Bane. "No not at all, I've just placed a buffer ward over your master's wards so that he cannot trace your whereabouts. Other than that we just want to show you a few things about your employer, you will be free to leave after that if it is your intent."
Bane's eyes quickly turned to that of the killer. "I intend to, of that I can assure you, after I kill you."
Arc noticed the deadly change and with a flick of his wrist quickly placed a calming spell over the assassin. As Bane relaxed, Arc smiled and sat back down in a chair beside him.
"You're playing with me again, wizard."
"Maybe so Bane, but it is hard to reason with someone who wants to kill you."
"Well good to see you have finally joined us." Daniel stated from the doorway.
Bane studied Daniel carefully and after a few moments he turned to the bed where Kait was stirring. "You two are my targets."
Arc nodded with a smug smile. "Good observation skills, Bane."
"You lot have been following me around all this time." Bane shook his head and started to laugh. "No doubt you've been protecting my other target while I was tracking him. So how is he?"
"It will take more than an assassin's blade to keep our friend down. But don't feel bad, Bane, we had the advantage of magic to help cover us from your talents which I must say, are quite impressive. You certainly did not make our job easy."
Bane snorted. "Apparently they are not impressive enough if I'm here listening to your babble. When my master finds out what's going on here you will all rue the day you trapped me."
"Who, Arbinn the famed Destroyer, who wiped out half the world in his early days as the demented Keeper of Darkness or his half-witted side kick, Charaz? We're pretty sure Arbinn will be an understanding kind of boss. Especially when he finds out you know the truth about him and what he has been doing to you." Daniel put in.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Let's just say..." Daniel started as he spun his chair around and sat down and folded his arms across the backrest. "He has never been completely honest with you."
