Now, on with the story! ~OnlyLegendary

I can't help but giggle at the funny looks we get when people see him carrying me piggyback through the marketplace. I don't blame them; only a few minutes before he had been chasing me like I was a criminal. I was just going to walk with him but he wouldn't stop pestering me with questions, so I conceded to answer all his questions is he gave me a piggyback ride all the way back home. Naturally, he couldn't refuse.

WIthout further adieu, I jumped up onto his back and his hooked his arms underneath my legs, securing me in place, where I have no choice but to answer all of his billions of extravagant questions as generically as possible. I don't want him to discover the truth, but if I don't answer them with at least some honesty, Dad will definitely not be happy with me. My father has this ability to see right through me, so he can always tell when I'm lying. That ability makes it really hard to answer his questions without giving away what I know would torture him for the rest of his days.

"Well, how'd your mission go?"

"It was a success." I state simply, not wanting to align either a positive or negative connotation with it, "We successfully delivered the message and took down three different men of some crazy group that called themselves 'Sekensha'."

"'Sekensha', eh?" Dad ponders this informations profusely, and files it away in his steel trap of a mind with a smile, "You completed your mission and took down some dangerous criminals on the side? Sounds like my little girl went and grew up on me, didn't she?"

"Dad, don't you dare start crying on me again!" I threaten, gripping his shoulders as his tone turns sappy and nostalgic. If he starts crying again, I'm definitely going to start crying, and I've cried way more than I would've liked already.

"I-" He sniffles pathetically and clears his throat, "I'm not crying!"

"Sure you're not." I grumble at his denial, but honestly I'm glad that he hasn't noticed any of the avoided questions so far. I know that I went and grew up without him, but only because I was forced to. Dad doesn't need to know that. I do have a lot of things to say that he does need to know, though, "And, Dad... I- I'm really sorry about the note. It's just... If I said goodbye to you in person, I don't think I would've been able to leave."

"It's okay, Cylla." My father's tone is serious again, and he turns his head to look me in the eye, "Just don't ever, ever leave me like that again. Okay?"

"Okay." I don't ever plan to go on a mission like that again. My father's eyes soften, and he smiles as if he can read my mind. He can probably tell what I'm thinking just by the look in my eyes, though. He is my father, after all.

"You stayed safe on your mission, right?" Dad asks the typical question that I predicted was coming, but even so it makes my heart clench in agony. If only he knew. But he can't, and he won't. Not if I can help it. Oblivious to my secret keeping thoughts, he continues worrying about me like the over-protective single father he is, "No terrible terminal conditions or lost appendages that I have to worry about?"

"No, I didn't get any terminal diseases and I still have all my fingers and toes, Dad." I laugh, poking his masked face as I tease him. He grumbles in disdain, knowing that he can't stop me because he needs both hands to hold me up. "At least, I don't have any terminal disease that I'm aware of."
