Jimin sat on the piano stool facing the large instrument, all by himself in the practice room. He stretched his fingers out above the white and black alternating keys. He was tempted to play, but there was one problem... He didn't know how.
He had a bit of a background since he had taken lessons as a kid, but he hadn't played since middle school.
Jimin put his hands on the back of the seat and leaned back, tilting his head up towards the ceiling and closing his eyes. He inhaled deeply through his nose, chest rising with the intake of breath. He was relaxed, basking in the sun that came in through the windows around the room.
"Hm." Jimin hummed, opening his eyes and standing up from the piano. He had already stretched, but he may as well warm-up a little while he waits on Yoongi.
So Jimin made his way to the center of the practice room and began to do just that. He did all sorts of twists and turns with his body, gracefully moving about the open space. Little did he know Yoongi had already arrived.
Sort of.
Yoongi had shown up, but he stayed lingering in the doorway on the far side of the room, watching. The way Jimin moved so effortlessly mesmerized the blonde man. He was absolutely entranced by each movement the brunette made. The white pants and sweater that he was wearing reflected the sun in such a way that made it seem like he was glowing.
An Angel, Yoongi thought.
Jimin's dancing came to a stop when he felt the eyes that had been on him for quite some time, and turned his head to look.
"Oh! Yoongi!" He smiled. "I'm sorry, I was just warming up. I didn't see you there."
Yoongi had to keep his jaw from falling open. "That was just a warm-up?" He stared at him incredulously.
"What else would it be?" Jimin chuckled, going to his bag to get his water bottle.
"I thought that was the routine!" Yoongi answered honestly as he walked to the piano.Jimin laughed again. "Wait till you see the real thing."
"I look forward to it." Yoongi smiles and sat down at the piano. "So. What's the piece I need to play?"
"Here." Jimin handed him the sheet music that had previously been on top of the piano. "Show me what you got, Min Yoongi from Daegu." He winked and leaned against the large instrument, arms folded.
Yoongi rolled his eyes out of amusement and looked over the papers in his hand. His eyes widened suddenly.
This was one of his first works. It was a simplified version that Jimin probably pulled from online, and it didn't have his name on it. So that meant somebody had tried writing this sheet music out by ear and never bothered to credit him... not that he cared. This was maybe the third piece he wrote and he didn't really think it was that good. It paled in comparison to his other works.
"Everything okay...?" Jimin frowned, noticing Yoongi was staring at it very oddly.
"Yeah. Fine." Yoongi cleared his throat and spread the pages out on the piano. "You ready to dance?"
"Only if you're ready to play." Jimin's gentle smile returned as he stepped away from the piano. "Whenever you're ready."
Yoongi nodded and scanned over the sheets briefly before beginning the piece, fingers gracefully dancing across the keys. He was careful to play it note for note as written before him. He didn't want Jimin to think he was anything more than a casual piano player.
On cue, Jimin danced. He moved with the music, as if it were all he knew how to do. He gave it all he got even if it was just practice. He danced until the very last note, at which point he assumed his final position that he would hold until the held note faded out.
"That wasn't bad." Jimin said between his heavy breaths, stalking back over to the piano. Yoongi stretched his fingers out, giving him a look.
"Wasn't bad? It was flawless, for your information." Yoongi teased, pretending to be offended to which Jimin returned with a laugh. Yoongi really loved that laugh, the way his cheeks lifted and his eyes became narrow. The most beautiful laugh.
"I think you'll do. So what do you say? Be my accompanist for this dance recital?" Jimin asked, biting his lip hopefully.
Yoongi nodded. "I think I can do that." He smiled gently, pleased to see that Jimin's smile grew larger. "So where is this exactly? In Busan?"
Jimin shook his head, and he looked like was about to explode with excitement.
"Nope." He shook his head. "Daegu!"
"Daegu?" Yoongi frowned in confusion.
"Yeah. Daegu Hall Of Music, to be exact! On January 3rd." Jimin beamed, his anticipation more evident than anything else in the room- except for Yoongi's soul crushing hesitation."Oh- oh wow." He coughed. "That's huge. Like, the Daegu Hall Of Music?"
Jimin nodded happily again. "And you live in Daegu, so it won't be too much of an inconvenience for you. Oh and don't worry about me either, I have a friend in Daegu who I already plan to stay with."
"Who?" Yoongi asked, curious.
"Kim Taehyung? He's the guy that runs that tea shop we first met at. I was just visiting him then."Yoongi almost choked. He knew Taehyung all too well. The two had participated in a music camp together throughout high school, him with piano and Taehyung with saxophone. Of course Taehyung didn't go on to pursue music, so they hadn't seen much of each other since, but Taehyung definitely knew of Yoongi's success.
And January 3rd... that date was familiar to him. Why?
"Oh cool." Yoongi stood. "That's awesome. I look forward to it. But I have to get going, mind if I take these?" He gestured to the sheet music.
Jimin nodded. "You need them more than I do." He chucked. "Oh- and before I forget..." Jimin grabbed his phone from his bag. "I should get your number so we can stay in touch."
Yoongi agreed and took out his phone as well. The two exchanged numbers before Yoongi left the community center, then called his manager.
"Hey, Namjoon. Do I have something scheduled for the 3rd of January?" Yoongi asked, walking with his other hand in his pocket.
Namjoon sighed on the other end of the phone. "Yes, Yoongi. Daegu Hall Of Music banquet? You're performing new pieces, which by the way- you've been promising those since September. Any update?"
Yoongi's jaw clenched. "Working on it still. Are there people from Busan performing there by any chance?"
"Uh... let me check." Yoongi heard the rustling of papers on the other end. "Yeah. Busan Dance Co. is selecting a dancer to perform, looks like the one they're sending is Park Jimin?"
"Shit." Yoongi hissed.
"What?"
"Nothing. I'll talk to you later. Bye." Yoongi hung up before Namjoon could question further and looked at the text from Jimin he had just received.
Park Jimin
Hey! Thanks again for agreeing to do this. Can't wait!! :)Yoongi grimaced and pocketed his phone.
What did he just get himself into...
