My Spring

Summer has always been my favorite season
Our romance is easier to narrate
But when you ask me if I'm in love
It dawns on me as the sun does
Ease is far beneath us

I've been in a perennial winter
And by the grace of an unknown power
Out of nowhere my spring sprung
The surprise flung my heart into the fray

My spring woke up the sleeping seeds of joy
It saw to the tweet-tweet and flirtatious dance of birds
Spring opens a spring of sweet words to erupt

The grass growing beneath my bare chapped feet offers a soft caress
Fresh scented air invades my lungs and kneeds the knots in me
A sensation that's hard not to need

Spring brings forth purple-pink chocolate coated fruit
Tender to the touch and juicy
My mouth waters as I bite
Electric
The message shoots to the back of my throat
I hunger for more

Cradled safely by its warmth
Spring winds blow a kaleidoscope of butterflies my way
So picturesque they paint the palpable magnetism that pulls me to stay

Rambling on like a kid
I forget
Spring is but a season
It comes to pass and pass it did
Even though spring has come to an end
I clutch tightly to the memories like the hem of my dress
As I wade through the waters of reality
With intense determination to stand against uncertainty
I'd hate to digress

Another season will come along
I'll write a poem
I'll sing a song
It may be many moons before then
Seasons take their time
But then again so will I
