Raph and I had been walking for almost over 15 minutes. It probably would have been faster if I had shoes on. Also, I was gagging every two seconds, but I eventually got used to the stench of the sewers. Raphael didn't talk much during our walk but that was okay. I happened to love the beautiful silence. It gave me time to think as I mindlessly followed him.
I wonder if his brothers all look alike? What if they all wear red bandannas-er masks -er whatever? How would I tell them apart? OMG WHAT IF ONE HAS A THIRD ARM OR SOMETHING! Duuuude that's sick.
I giggled at my own thoughts and imagination. Then we both stopped in front of some sort of abandoned subway.
... wait how did we get here?...
Raph turned to face me and nodded his head back toward some turnstiles and kept walking.
"Okaaay.. I'm guessing we're here?"
"Yup" he said as he flipped over the turnstiles. I followed him and leapt over and was greeted by an amazing sight.
It looked like a huge living room with a tv, a spiral staircase, and some sort of totally mutilated practice dummy.
"Woaaahh!"
"Pretty great, am I right?"
"Uh-huh" I looked around in amazement, walking towards the "couches" and beanbag by the tv. I dropped my bags and ran to the pinball machine.
"OMG YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE? I HAVEN'T PLAYED SINCE I WAS CHILD!"
He just laughed a little while I studied all the buttons and flashing lights. I could feel him watching me and I was about to say something else when I heard a voice.
"DUDES I THINK ODETTE IS HERE- DUDETTE YOU ARE HERE!"
Dudette? Lol what's a dudette?
"Uh, just dude is okay with me..." I said turning around to be met with baby blue eyes surrounded by an orange mask. I took a few steps back and bumped into the pinball machine. The turtle was the same hight as me and had some freckles on his cheeks.
"I'm Mikey! The cute one!" And with that he hugged me, almost too tightly, before Raph spoke.
"Mikey put her down, you're gonna crush her!"
"Oops, sorry" he set me down gently and I rubbed my arms smiling, looking to where I heard some footsteps.
I saw two more turtles come in. One has a blue mask and some swords, who was maybe an inch or two taller than Raph. The other was about as tall as Casey, with a purple mask and some sort of wooden staff.
"Uh, hi!" I waved and smiled nervously, I guess I'm still kinda in shock. I mean I'm leaving what I thought was my home, again, with a bunch of turtle dudes.
Both of the turtles came over and Mikey went behind them. The one in the blue mask smiled and bowed.
"Hi Odette. I'm Leonardo, you've already met Michelangelo," he gestured towards the purple masked turtle," and this is Donatello." Mikey popped out behind them "He's the smart, super high-techy dude!" Donnie pushed Mikey's hand off of his shoulder, followed by a thud and laughter.
"You can just call me Donnie, or Don, or D, I guess." He chuckled and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"So, everyone has a nickname but Leonardo? Or-"
"Lameonardo" Raph said with a smirk as he looked to his brother. I followed his gaze to Leonardo and saw he was barely phased by the comment. "You can call me Leo, if that's easier."
"Sure thing, Leo." I turned back to Raph,"so where's Casey?"
" he should be here in a bit, promise."
"Oh, okay...," my stomach growled and I held it as if trying to silence it.
"Ya hungry? We should have leftover pizza in the fridge." Raph said.
He seemed concerned, but he shouldn't be. I haven't eaten in a few days, but he shouldn't know that, unless my brother said something. I've gone longer though, it wasn't my fault, I just wasn't in a very nurturing household the past few years.
"Actually, Casey said for me to go ahead and order some pizza and he'd pick it up." Mikey butted in again.
"Speak of the devil..." I saw Donnie look toward the entrance of my new home and found my brother behind numerous boxes of pizza. So I ran up to him, jumping up and down trying to find his face.
"CASEY! OMG BRO THIS IS SO COOL! IVE MISSED YOU! AND NOW I KNOW WHY YOU'RE NEVER HOME AND YOUR FRIENDS ARE SO COOL AND WE CAN TOTALLY HANG NOW!"
I can hear the guys chuckling behind me.
"Excited one, isn't she?" Well that's a new voice. I turned around to see, GIANT RAT?! I was in awe as I looked up to him. He's the tallest thing I've ever laid eyes on, and that's saying a lot, because everything is taller than me.
"Hello, you must be Odette. The younger Jones?"
I stared for a few seconds longer before responding, still in awe.
"Oh! Uh,.. yeah!" I stood ups straight as I spoke because I was kinda scared. Then took note of his Japanese accident and decided to bow. God I'm an idiot... I could hear him chuckling and I looked up toward him again.
" I am the boys' father, you may call me Splinter. Or you may call me master, that is if ,while you are living with us, you wish to train as a kunoichi?" I looked at Casey as he walked back from the kitchen.
"a female ninja." He clarified.
I can barely balance on one foot, let alone be a ninja...
"well, I'll think about it. For now I'd like to get settled in." My stomach growled loudly. "And eat." Mikey said, dragging me to the kitchen table. I can see Casey smiling and everyone walking to the kitchen behind Mikey and I.

After we ate pizza I instantly felt at home. We had fun conversations. Donnie and I spoke about chemistry and how he could help me study in his lab, as well as help me out with my pre-calculus work. Leo and I spoke about dungeons and dragons as well as space heroes, although I have to admit I only watch it to laugh, but I didn't tell him. Raph said he could help me get stronger for training (he convinced me to start) and insisted I eat more pizza when I only had two slices because I apparently am a twig. Mikey and I had a bunch of video game and show theories to discuss which all the brothers, including my own, joined in to talk about.
Once everyone finished eating they left to watch tv and I stayed to speak with Master Splinter.
"So you really think you can turn me into a kunoichi?"
"Of course, anything is possible with enough training and preparation."
"Well... okay then, I'll do it!" I said smiling. " so where will I be sleeping?" I got up and took everyone's cups to the sink to wash them. No one used plates, they didn't bother to.
"Hmm... well we have already prepared an extra room down the hall for you. No extravagance, just a bed and a dresser for what you have brought with you. If you are unhappy with the arrangement of the future feel free to ask one of the boys to help move things around."
I smiled and was just about to go sit down with the others when I remembered.
"Sensei? I don't want to sound rude or ungrateful but like, why am I here?"
Master Splinter stood up and pushed in his chair as he said,
"Your brother informed my sons on the living situations at home before. But, when you came to stay in New York, he was worried about the actions your father may display. When the time was right they asked if you could stay, for your safety. I couldn't say no, I once had a daughter and couldn't imagine putting her in harms way."
I looked at the floor and nodded. ".....thank you... sensei." I looked up and smiled, and started walking to the couch.
Everything is going to be okay here, I know it. This is where I was meant to be.
