I can't believe this would happen to me.
After I agreed to what Takamori-san is saying, I realized that there's no turning back anymore. I have to embrace my new role as Kaori's personal bodyguard.
What choice do I have? I have to protect her at all costs.
But there's no way I can. I still don't know how to control my Gear properly, and any mistake I make on wielding my Gear could lead to my death.
Aaahhh, this is so unexpected! I'm screwed!
I can't believe that all of these are totally unexpected.
Well, never mind. I promised myself that I will do everything what I can to protect Kaori and save her. After all, she's my friend.
And also, fate decided this to happen to me.
Well, I guess that this is the most unforgettable moment in my life; I'll never back down on a thing that I agreed to.
At least this necklace, she gave to me a few days ago, is the only remembrance she left to me.
It's so beautiful.
I didn't realize that she always loved to give me gifts in the past.
I wonder if I can give a gift to her, in case if I succeed on rescuing her. In that way, I can make a girl in my life happy.
"That necklace, it's so beautiful." a voice said behind me.
Oh, it's just Seria, I thought its Kaori.
"Kaori-ojousama gave it to you, right?" she asked with a smile.
Seria's smile is so cute, at least it calms my mind.
"Yes, she did." I answered.
"When?" she sat beside me.
"About a few days ago, before the incident." I answered again.
Seria then approached me closely and she looked at my necklace, like it was so familiar to her.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" I asked her.
"Yes, it is." she answered, "When I was young, I remembered my mother giving me a necklace, before she died in a fire accident. Ever since she died, she left me this necklace, which became the most important thing in my life. After all, this necklace is the only remembrance she left to me."
"So that necklace had been on your neck ever since you were a kid?" I asked her.
I felt that Seria and I were both on the same page.
Kaori gave me a necklace which became so important to me, and Seria's mother gave her a necklace too, which also became an important gift to her. I didn't know that she could also cherish an important thing left to her by the person she loved the most.
"Yup, it sure is." she showed it to me.
"It's beautiful. I never thought your mom would give you such a beautiful gift." I commented as I look on the beautiful necklace.
The necklace forms in the shape of a talon-like pendant, with small gems and ancient runes carved on it.
"Halzaria Kirishna." she uttered a word familiar to me.
Wait, that word, she mentioned that before...
"What was that?" I asked.
"That is the name of my necklace; Halzaria Kirishna - Talons of the Phoenix." she said, "And also, that necklace isn't just an ordinary accessory at all, it's also a Gear, inherited to me by my mom."
Wow, I can't believe this. Seria have a powerful Gear like Kaori's.
"Wait, your mom is a Gear wielder?" I asked.
"Yes, she is." she answered, "Ever since I got this, I don't know how to use it at first, until Sebastian taught me how to use it properly. I underwent a Hellish training just to remember the proper usage of a Gear like this so that once I use it on fighting, I will not die."
Okay, I can't believe that you survived Sebastian's Hellish training (not to mention that he'll be my trainer).
I didn't know how did she managed to survive it!
"Anyway, Ichiro-san," she suddenly looked on my finger.
"What is it?" I asked.
"That ring on your finger, it's a Gear, isn't it?" she asked.
"Oh, this? Ahh, yes it is. It's a Gear, but I still don't know how to control it properly." I said.
"Ever since I saw you wield that Gear, I can't believe that thing is more powerful than ours." she commented.
"Really?" I asked, "Well, thanks for the comment. But, actually... yes, this is indeed strong, but I still don't know how it works."
"You don't know, yet you wield it." she said.
"Yes, I'm wielding it, but still I don't know. I know this thing is very strong, but I don't know how it really works once I use it." I explained.
"Okay, but how did that Gear get to you?" Seria curiously asked.
"Kaori gave it to me." I answered honestly, "I don't know how it came to her, or how was it found, but the only thing I know is that she gave this to me as a gift before I dated Sakura."
"Founded? You mean that Gear is lost before you possess it?" she asked.
"Well, yeah, I guess." I answered.
"I just don't know. When I clashed with those guys from the Order, they said that this Gear belonged to them. It became lost for almost a thousand years and they've spent centuries searching for it. I didn't know that this Gear is also important to them." I explained the only things I know.
"But the question is why? Why do they want it?" I asked to myself.
Seria looked on it with curiosity. She also didn't know anything about the details of my ring.
"Maybe we'll find it out soon, once we rescued Kaori-ojousama." she said.
"Yeah. Probably." I said.
A moment of silence took over until someone came from behind us.
"Until what time can you guys end your conversation?" the voice asked.
"Kenta." I looked on him.
"You are probably having a sweet time with our maid, huh? Well, I think I should stop on disturbing you, after all, you are enjoying your conversation with her." Kenta smiled.
"Oi, what are you talking about? It's not like I'm having a good time with Seria." I denied it, "I'm just talking to her about my Gear, okay?"
"Okay, okay, whatever you say." he chuckled.
"Anyway, Inami-neesan is calling you inside. She wants to talk to you." he added.
"This is about the rescue mission, isn't it?" I asked him.
"Yup. And we are planning it now." he answered, "To be honest, I'm also worried about Kaori. I can't just sit here and take shit ever since I've heard that those bastards have taken my precious sister. Like you, I'm also doing everything what I can to protect those I cherish the most, because I of the promise I made to papa."
"Is that so?" I said with a doubting look.
Kenta really is a good guy. Even though he's a pervert, he's still kind and loyal to those he loved the most.
"Hey, c'mon! Don't give me that look! You know I loved my sister, okay. Besides, she's the most important person in my life, and I don't want those bastard angels take her away from us." he explained.
"Don't worry, man." I placed my hand on his shoulder as I walk to the door.
"I guess you and I are on the same page, then." I muttered.
After that, both of us walked inside and went to the game room.
***
"Takamura. Good thing you came." Inami said as I enter the room.
As I enter, I only saw Inami, Wilhelmina, Sebastian, Seria and Kenta inside the room. Only the six of us are present inside the room.
"Hey, where is everybody else? It's only the six of us." I said as I look around.
"It'll be best if it's only the six of us. Involving the entire household will bring more trouble." Sebastian said.
"But, we can't fight them if we're outnumbered." I doubted.
"Takamura. There's no need for you to worry about that." Inami said smiling, "Even though we're outnumbered, we can still outsmart them. So don't you dare underestimate Demons. You'll see how we fight once we start this mission."
I don't know about this, but I gotta a feeling that these guys can overpower those angels with a small group only.
"Okay. So what's the plan?" I changed the topic and finally began our discussion.
"A few hours ago, Wilhelmina finally founded Mephisto's hideout. And his hideout is located about a few miles North, in an old abandoned church near a graveyard." she said as she points on the map at the table.
Old St. Matthew's Church. Impossible, how could they use that as a hideout.
"That church had been left deserted for over six decades. No one has ever entered that place anymore, but ever since it's already abandoned, the old church here in Tenjiroku city is inhabited by Fallen Angels." Sebastian said.
"And that church is being used for ceremonial rituals or feasts celebrated by anti-Christ factions present from around the world. Since no one is inhabiting the church, Satan's hounds used that place as a perfect hideout to hunt down the Demon King's heirs here in Japan." Inami said.
"If their using that place as a hideout, then maybe Kaori is held captive in there." I guessed.
Ever since Inami mentioned the inhabitants of the old abandoned church, I'm beginning to sense that Kaori is indeed held captive in that ruined building.
"Precisely." she said.
"And that place will be our target." she added.
"But how can we go there? The old church is far away from here, and it's impossible for us to get there on foot or by car. It will take a few hours to go to that old place." I said as I point on the map.
"You really have a big problem concerning Demons, huh, Ichikkun?" Kenta chuckled.
"Of course we can get there fast. But not on foot or by car." Kenta added.
"Then how can we get there?" I asked.
"You'll find out soon once we're ready, Takamura." Inami said.
After that Inami looked on Wilhelmina.
"Wilhelmina, how many Fallen Angels are guarding the church?" she asked.
"About 75 men, ojou-sama." she answered.
"Few of them are Savages and sorcerers, but the rest are all pure-blooded Fallen Angels." she added.
Inami took a deep breath, "As I thought. This will really be a full-scale battle."
As I thought too. Look at us, we're completely outnumbered.
There's no chance that we can stand up against 75 armed Fallen Angels, and also this will result in a total defeat if they corner us easily.
"Sebastian, Kenta, I want you two to prepare your Gears once we infiltrate their base. And I need you guys to be ready as soon as possible before we get there." Inami ordered her brother and Sebastian.
"My pleasure, neechan." Kenta grinned.
"It will be done, ojou-sama." Sebastian responded in a polite manner.
"It's been a while again ever since I used my Gear." Kenta said.
Inami then looked on Wilhelmina.
"Wilhelmina, you will help Takamura and Seria on rescuing Kaori once you enter the church. Sebastian and Kenta will take care of Shyrane's goons." she said.
"As you wish, ojou-sama." Wilhelmina responded.
"But, what about you, Inami-neechan? What are you gonna do?" I asked.
"I'll have to take care of Mephisto. Because he and I have some unfinished business to take care of." she said as she closes her fists.
I think that Inami-neechan is well prepared in this fight, even though we're still commencing the rescue mission.
Anyway, I'm all nervous right now.
Once we commence the mission, I'm still afraid to use my Gear.
Because if I make one mistake on using this thing, I'll definitely die. Not on the hands of my enemy, but the Gear itself will kill me.
After we finally prepared for the upcoming rescue mission, Inami looked on her wrist watch.
It's already 2:30 a.m. and the mission is about to commence.
"It's time. We should prepare now before we're too late." she said as she takes her black coat.
"But we haven't take our Gears yet." I said.
"Don't worry, man. Our Gears are already with us since we possessed this." Kenta smiled.
"Ichiro-san." Sebastian called me.
"Yes?" I responded.
"Remember what I told you about the Gear. Don't you dare overuse much of its powers, otherwise you will die early." he said with a dark tone.
"Okay, if you say so." I said.
"Alright, alright. Save your discussion later, Sebastian-san, Ichiro-san." Wilhelmina said as she puts her arm on my shoulder.
"We are about to go. C'mon, there's no time to waste." Inami said.
"Wilhelmina, the portal." she ordered.
"Yes, ojou-sama." Wilhelmina stepped forward and she draws out an ancient portal with a eight-pointed star.
Why are we on a rush? It's not like nothing's gonna happen to Kaori.
I'm also worried about Kaori but why is Inami rushing to rescue her?
"We don't have much time before the ritual starts." Inami whispered.
Wait, what? Did she just say ritual? What does that suppose to mean?
"Okay, are you all ready?" Wilhelmina said.
As she steps in the portal, the red portal begins to glow underneath us.
"Let's go!!" Wilhelmina cried out.
After she cries out the phrase, a large spark of electric shocks appeared, and as it consume us, we suddenly vanished, taking us to another place.
But where would the portal lead us to?
Oh, right. I know where. The old church.
