The Alpha
"You know, it's rude to keep a lady waiting. I'm gonna turn into a major bitch if y'all keep me waiting any longer." I threaten, earning a laugh from my capturer, the Beta wolf. They had grabbed me and practically dragged me into the woods, and they have me chained to a wall in a stoned room.
Honestly? I'm scared as fuck. My ass is liable to die in the next 24 hours. But, I'm trying to make the best of it. Hence the humor I'm trying to bring to this boring place.
As I said, I'm chained into a corner of a stone room. The Beta's standing in the corner opposite me, only about 12 ft. away. He's leaned casually against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as he smirks over at me. He's been standing there starring at me for the past hour, just listening to me rant about the randomist crap I can come up with. At this point I'm on the verge of going crazy and I'm mostly just babbling.
I like when I can actually get him to laugh though. It fills the room with color that is pretty much nonexsistent in here.
"You, a major bitch?" he asks, his eyebrows raised and sarcasm dripping from his tone. "Never." My mouth falls open as I glare at him. He laughs again but tries to cover it with his hand.
"Oh, how rude. I'm not talking to you anymore." I turn my head away snottily and close my eyes. My chin is high as I purse my lips, pouting.
"Damn. I was just loving your encessant babbling." I roll my eyes, purposfully ignoring him. "Nothing to say, huh?" The Beta walks over towards me before squatting down in front of where I'm seated on the floor. I look at him and blink at the soft look in his eyes.
"What's your name, kid?" He asks after a couple minutes of just gazing at me. I gulp, trying to keep my face from turning bright red under his scrutinizing gaze. Regaining my composure, i come up with,
"I don't know. What's your name?" I ask, sounding like an annoying two year old. I snicker at myself. The Beta chuckles again, leaning back on his heels.
"Brian." He says simply, as if I should know that already. Beta Brian. I giggle to myself slightly, unable to cover it up. Brian smirks. "What?"
"Nothing." I giggle again, turning away from him.
"No, what is it?" Brian repeats, raising an eyebrow. I roll my eyes but answer anyway.
"Nothing! Just that, you're a Beta, right? Beta Brian. Double B. I don't know, it just kinda made me laugh for a second there." I laugh again, making Brian look at me like I'm crazy. I don't know why, but being around him makes me feel like I'm floating, and I'm not sure if I like that.
"Yeah...Well, are you going to tell me your name?"
"Lyra." I tell him, trying to stop laughing. I have no idea what's wrong with me.
"Lyra what?"
"Jauria. Lyra Jauria." Biting my lip I keep back more laughter.
"What pack did you come from?" Beta Brian asks, the look in his eye turning serious. It's almost enough to stop my giggling, but not quite.
"South Texas, duh, Didn't you notice my tan?" I crack up at the mention of my dark tan. My wolf growls at me, but I ignore her. What's her problem, I'm just having fun!
"Why did you come here?"
"I'm just trying to get through to the Pan-Handle. As far north as possible. I heard there's territory up there that no one occupies. I could live there without anyone ever knowing I'm really a wolf. You know, a werewolf? Mythical creature that turns into a wolf. Aaooooooo!" I howl before breaking out in laughter again. Jeez, what's wrong with me?! My wolf is growling at me uncontroably, and I think I just figured out why. I just told this random stranger that's trying to kill me just about everything he needs to know about me. And then I started babbling and started acting like I was drunk!
Brian's eyes narrowed for a second, before he stop up. And when he hoovered over me for a second, that's when I saw it. Pinching the bridge of his nose, so clear I almost missed it, was a nose plug. One that allowed him to breath, but not be able to breath anything other than damn oxygen. And why is that important? Because that means there's something in the air, and my ass just bathed in it. That also means, that any question he asks me I'm almost 100% sure I'm going to blurt.
"You asshole!" I scream, all the laughter in my flying away as I glared at him. Brian flinched alittle, eyebrows raised as he watched my mood change. "You put something in here! Something that makes me spill the beans on anything you ask!" Brian smirked at me.
"So you figured out that trick too, huh? You're one smart cookie, I'll give you that." He paced in front of me for a second before asking, "Is there any reason besides passing through that you'd be in our territory?"
"Besides to kick you ass? No, not really." The answer flies out of my mouth like all my other answers had, showing him just how hoest I could be. I was just glad that even when I was forced to tell the truth I still had a sense of humor.
"Do you know who the Alpha of this pack is?"
"Nope."
"Do you have a grudge against him?"
"What the hell kind of question is that? I just said I don't know who he is!"
"Who are your family members and where are they?" I snickered, a look a hatred glowing in my eyes. I never actually hated him until this moment.
"You really wanna know, Pretty Boy?" Sneering, I give him my best glare. " My father's never been in the picture and my mother's dead." Brian flinches for real this time at my tone. I automatically feel bad, but I'm not sure if it's bcause of the hurt look on his face or because of the flood of emotions hitting me right now. I keep my face clear of any emotion though, and keep my face neutral. "Anymore questions?"
"Just two." He says, his face growing sad as he squats in front of me again. His eyes are full of worry as he looks at me. "Are you okay?" I have the intense urge to answer him honestly again, to scream, hell no! My mother's dead, I'll never be okay! But the chemicals in the air must be wearing off, because I'm able to just stare at him and wonder why he even cares.
"Yes." I let the lie slip off my tongue easy, just as it's always done.
"Good." Brian smiles at me. Catching me completely off guard, his fingers find my hair and he runs his fingers through it softly. "In that case, are you free tomorrow?"
The door the the brick dungeon I'm in bangs open, almost flying off its hinges. We both jump, and Brian shoots straight up and takes a step away from me.
"Get the hell away from what's mine. "
Oh shit.
