Sisters, Two
"Get up." Someone shouts at me. I'm--of course--asleep again. What else is there to do here? Shooting up from my slouched position, my eyes wave across the room in panic.
"Fuck!" I scream, trying to calm my heart down. My eyes land on an amused looking Nickolas. There's a smirk on his face and he has an eyebrow raised.
"Potty mouth, are we?" He chuckles.
"What of it?" I smirk back. "What are you doing in here?"
"A straight to the point potty mouth, I guess. I'm here to show you to some family and to take you to your room." My mouth falls open. Family? The hell, isn't just him and Fletcher?! Okay, well I guess Fletcher has to have a mom but I didn't think about it. Who else is there?! And the hell, a room?
"A room?" I question him out loud.
"Yes, a room." Nickolas still looks down at me amused as he cuts the ropes that tie me down. As soon as they're off I fall forward--I hadn't realized I didn't have feeling in my body since the first day I got here, two days ago. Two days in the same damn position numbs a person, I'll tell you. My hands barely catch me as I crash onto the floor. I roll my eyes, sighing, and flip over onto my back. I glare at Nickolas, who didn't even bother trying to catch me. He just grins down at me, so I return to the subject, still lying on the floor.
"But why do I need a room?" I ask stupidly. He rolls his eyes. We are way too much alike.
"Because you'll be living here now. Unless you'd like to stay in here?" I glance around at the plain, yellowed walls. Me and my buddy the chair were the only things in here.
"Nope, get me the hell out of here." I hurry after him as he heads for the door, chuckling. He sounds like Fletcher when he laughs, actually. I wonder where that big idiot is anyway.
Fletcher spent the rest of that first day with me, just talking and screwing around. We had the same personalities, and that's not a good thing. He was a major smart-ass, and all I wanted to do when we were talking was beat the shit out him. Lucky for him I was tied to a chair. I enjoyed his company though, even if he was an annoying little shit.
Thoughts set in about my room. If I'm getting a room, that just means they expect me to stay here--to live here. But this isn't my home. They kidnapped me, for shit's sake. Did they really expect me to just sit here and not try to escape? Or something along the nature of leaving?
"You couldn't leave even if you tried." Speaking of the little shit, here he is. Fletcher, in all his gorgeous glory was leaned against a corner that rounded into another hallway. The room I was in was at the dead end of such hall. I felt claustrophobic. There was a little girl next to him with long, wavy brown hair. She had a huge smile on her face and was bouncing on her toes. Nickolas chuckled in front of me.
"I was wondering why I couldn't read her anymore. Seems like you're developing faster than I thought." Fletcher stood up from the way, a grimace on his face.
"Dad, that sounds gross. Don't say anything like that again." I bite back a laugh, stifling it with my hand. Fletcher's eyes meet mine and he grins. Then I remember what he said.
"What the hell, how'd you know what I was thinking?" Fletcher rolls his eyes.
"That's what anyone would be thinking right now. I can see it all over your face; you're eyes were scanning every corner of this place, looking for an escape." He was right, I was eyeballing for an exit door.
I hadn't found one.
"Yeah, but it was just so--" Fletcher cut me off with an eye roll.
"I can read minds now--Dad just handed the power over this morning. And you're the annoying little shit, not me." I knew that certain vampires could read minds (not really, but they can catch little phrases in your head), but I didn't think Fletcher could until he was king or whatever. I figured Nickolas could read me the entire time and was just humoring me--he did seem to find me 'amusing'. Fletcher grinned at me when I rolled my eyes, admitting defeat in what I thought. But his smile disappeared when the little girl next to him smacked him on the stomach. She only reached to about his elbow, but she looked like she packed a punch.
