ANDYS POV
I woke up with a pounding headache. I realized my ex was on top of me. I pushed her off.
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOURE DOING HERE?!" I screamed in her face. She didn't even have the words to explain she just left. I went upstairs to make sure Kayla didn't see anything. I knocked on her door. Nothing. I knocked again. Again nothing. I pushed the door open. Her room was empty. I ran downstairs. I looked everywhere for her, but she left no trace.
"Ummm Andy you might wanna read this." CC called from the kitchen. I ran as fast I could up the stairs to where his plea came from. I grabbed the paper from his shaking hand.
.....Dear Andy,
I want you to know I'm sorry for ever taking you away from your precious Juliet. I knew a girl like me could never find love. This is my final goodbye. By the time you read this I'm already dead, so I might as well tell you where I am. I'm in that old field down the road.
Yours forever,
Kayla C.
P.s. I love you.
I didn't say a word I just stood there. Ash took the paper from my hand and read it aloud. They all looked at me. My brain finally caught up with my body, and I dashed out the door to my car. I drove to the field I knew Kayla had referenced in her letter. I pulled in and look for her truck. At the edge of the field was a heap of metal. The remains of her truck. I ran to the scene. I managed to pull her out. Her body bloody and broken. I couldn't tell if she was alive or if she was really gone. I picked her up and carried her to my car and sped off to the hospital.
They pulled her away on a stretcher and told me to wait in this little room. The rest of the guys got there, and they did their best to keep me distracted from all that was going on. All failed. Finally the doctor came in a solemn look crept onto his face. I looked at him with pleading eyes.
"We got her heartbeat to stabilize but she lost a lot of blood. She's fighting, but there's no telling if she'll ever recover it not." I pushed all tears and emotion down.
"Can I at least see her?"
"Of course she is awake but we haven't been able to get her to talk she just stares at the wall." nothing more was said me and the guys followed him down to Kayla's room. I stopped and then entered.
Her expression never changed she hardly blinked she just looked right past us at the wall or something far beyond it.
"Kayla please let me explain." I begged at her side. She turned her head and looked at me tears dripped down her pale cheeks. Then she turned her head back and nodded for me to go ahead.
"It was all a mistake. We were drunk I didn't even think. I just thought that things were the way they had always been. I really do love you, and I would never hurt you intentionally. Please forgive me." She said nothing she just continued to stare. Then the strangest thing happened.
Kayla spoke.
"There's nothing to be sorry for what has been done is over with." A eerie smile was spread across her face.
"Oh. Wait. What do you mean? Do you mean what I did or what you did? Is there something else I don't know about?" I asked my head nearly spinning.
She showed me a conversation over texting she had with her cousin not to long ago.
Kayla- hey soooo I know this is weird but I can't stay at our uncles anymore to much drama can I stay with you?
Julie (cousin)- of course..... what happened?
Kayla- I'll tell you when I get there it'll be a week or so though I'm kinda in the hospital nothing major but as soon as they let me go I'm buying a one way plane ticket.
I held her phone in my hand. She smiled and snatched it back from me.
"Bastard." She breathed. Tears dripped down both of our cheeks.
"Kayla I'm sorry please forgive me. I love you I really do." She blew a meaningless kiss my way. That's when I lost it I grabbed her face softly in my hands and kissed her. At first she remained motionless then she started to kiss back. Then pulled away.
"Please stay with me." Then I realized why she had pulled away. Her heart monitor slowed down to a single line. I screamed for a doctor. Why did this have to happen?
