~Chapter 3~

Lily’s POV

I shook my big, furry head to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. The she wolf in the reflection couldn’t be me!

The wolf in the reflection was gorgeous, with sleek snow white fur all over and blue, almost violet eyes.

The eyes are puzzling to me though. When a wolf shifts, they are supposed to keep a lot of human traits, but I had kept almost none of mine.

I should have dark brown fur, like my hair color, and light blue eyes. My wolf is all wrong for me!

“Stop thinking so negatively Lily!”

I whipped my head around looking for the source of the voice. I had heard it so clearly; the person had to be close by. I instinctively crouched down, ready to attack the unknown enemy.

“I am your wolf, there is no need to be afraid.”

My wolf?

“Yes darling, my name is Stella. My voice is heard only in your head.”

I suddenly felt really bad for this wonderful wolf. She’s just so majestic… Her voice is soft, wise, and motherly. I felt comforted for once in my life…

Oh, well hello there. I’m sorry that you’ve been paired with such a pathetic human. The spirits must have made a mista-

“Do not speak of such things! I am thankful to be paired with such a strong and lovely human as you.  Most humans would not have made it through such an agonizing transformation alive.”

My eyes widened and I would have gasped if I were in my human form. I could have died!

“Well, you didn’t so congratulations, but we have no time to chit chat. You need to shift back so your body does not stay in wolf form. This is only because this is your first shift, after this, you may stay as your wolf for as long as you wish.”

I would love to shift back, but… I don’t really know how….

“No need to worry, that’s why I am here, to help you through life.”

I mentally smiled a huge, wolfey grin. Stella laughed and began to take me through the steps to shifting back.

The whole process took around an hour but in the end I changed back, but man was it painful!

I heard my bones snap back into place, and my fur retreating back into my body. I was laying on the cold ground, silent tears of pain escaping and running down my face.

Stella? Will shifting always be this painful?

“No, m’dear. The first few shifts are the most painful, but you will get used to it after a while. Shifting will also take a lot less time as you start to get the hang of it.”

I slowly curled myself out of a ball and stood up only to ‘feel a breeze’. Where are my clothes?!

I frantically looked around to see shreds of cloth on the ground.

“Found them...” I whispered under my breath. I walked over to where I had dropped my bag to see if I had a sweater or shirt to cover up.

No such luck… then I remembered the big gift bag Bri had given me for my birthday.

I took out the soft pink tissue paper to find a pile of makeup, toothpaste, toothbrushes, a light pink towel, cardigans, sweaters, pants, shorts, a couple pairs of shoes, underwear and bras, and other needs.
