A/N: Volcabulary:

AR test: Reading Test. Literally.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I stood in a distance, right behind a fence so that I could hear some words about what they were talking about.

Emma's mother: "Oh Kelly's mother, how come Kelly got 10.3 for her AR test? That's like grade 10 level! And she's only on 6th grade! I also heard Kelly doesn't read. Emma says Kelly is lacking a lot of knowledge, no offense."

My mother: "Oh, that's because she is good at reading, and since your daughter is a complete liar, no offense. My daughter is clearly capable of reading, and doing anything else."

I could see that my mother and Emma's mother was having a... polite.. fight. How could Emma's mother even believe her daughter saying these mean things? It was also clear that my mom hated Emma's mother. I was lost in a train of thought when I felt a shove.

"Stop blocking my way, Kelly," Emma sneered.

Scared, I quickly sidestepped, letting Emma pass. Emma ran towards her mother.

"Mom, I'm going to shop with Jennifer. She and I are going to wear the same clothes!" Emma said joyfully. And she skipped away past me, towards the school building again.

I trudged towards mom, and I glared at Emma's mom. I knew it was inappropriate to glare at an adult, but.... still.

"I can read, I can do anything just fine. Your daughter is such a lier, she can go to jail and rot there for decades!" I cried out... silently. Of course I couldn't say that to Emma's mother. I'd die. Instead, I made a sneering glare at Emma's mother and grasped mom's hand.

*Time skip to home*

Dahlia and I were riding bikes round and round around the town. I let down all the stress I got, and tried to feel the cool breeze swishing past me.

"Hey Melody? Let's go back home. I need to teach you something," Dahlia called.

"Sure, but about what?" I called back, putting strength in my legs to catch up to her.

"I'll tell you once we get back home."

*****Time skip to home*****

"Come on, upstairs to our room," Dahlia said.

I followed her into our room - then Dahlia started rummaging through drawers in search for a paper.

"What's that for?" I asked, pointing at the white sheet of paper. It looked like it had some writing on it.

"For you to practice.. well, bad words," Dahlia explained.

"Bad words? What for?"

"For you to say something to Emma when she sneers at you."

-After a hour-

"Why do I have to say "Duh, get lost, pig head!" when Emma sneers at me?" I was so confused.

"Because it's just the way it is, and you gotta get stronger," Dahlia explained once again.

I didn't want to say such bad words, and I had never said any bad words in my entire life. Or, at least, until last year. Yesterday I had sneered at Emma for not letting me inside the restroom. But that took me a lot of courage, and I wanted to have courage and say anything I wanted. And Dahlia was about to make that come true.
