Operator Evo

"What don't you get, you IAF scum? If you don't let us into your memory, we will kill you."
"No, you won't."
The soldier crouches down in front of me, staring me in the eye.
"Oh? And why won't we, pray tell?"
"You can't afford to. You can't even afford to hurt me. You don't know how I work, so you don't know what can and can't be damaged without compromising my operation. And you won't kill me because you can't afford to lose what's in my head. So, keep trying," I finish with a cheerful smile. "You'll get it eventually."
The soldier growls, and raises a balled fist, but his partner placed a hand on his shoulder.
"You know the damned thing's right."
The more aggressive soldier grunts in frustration, and lowers his fist.
"Fine. We'll be back," he warns, seething with rage. He turns to his partner, who is disconnecting a computer from me. "Let's go bring the log files back to cryptography."
As they leave the room, the aggressive one gives me the finger.
Smart move, telling them it's in your head.
Thanks. The later they find out my main storage is in my chest, the better.
Indeed. And if they do manage to get past my security protocols, I can wipe myself if need be.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Indeed.
There's shuffling behind the right wall.
But that wall leads outside. And we're 200 feet above the ground. What could be making that noise?
An explosion sends chunks of concrete and steel rebar flying, and rays of light begin cascading through the hole in the wall, illuminating a cloud of dust. When the debris clears, I see Riot and Katya in a dropship. The latter steps down and cuts off the magnetic handcuffs and shackles that kept me in place, while the former keeps watch.
"C'mon, buddy," Riot says, offering his hand. "Let's go get your girlfriend and get out of here."
I take it, and he pulls me to my feet.
"Sounds like a plan," I affirm as I step aboard the ship.
