Gen 2.1 AI #2
Riot and I walk into the cabin, then silently get ready for bed. I change into a tank top and a pair of cloth shorts, while Riot wears nothing but boxers. As we settle into bed, I roll over and sling an arm around him.
"That was fun," he comments as he sinks into the bed.
"It was," I reply, thinking back on how much things have changed in the last week. "Hey, Reach called himself a charmer and said something about class augments. What was he talking about?"
"Oh, that. So, when you're choosing how to modify your kid, it's not just a build-a-baby workshop, okay? You don't just get to pick and choose what traits your kid gets. There's specific classes, each with its own strengths and weaknesses."
"What class are you?"
"Tank."
"Strengths?"
"Strength. Endurance. Stronger protective instinct. Large, intimidating frame."
"I think it's more endearing and teddy-bear-like than intimidating, but whatever floats your boat."
"Weaknesses?"
"Slow. Sometimes reckless."
"Seems balanced."
"Most are. The CBAH has a whole book of laws dedicated to approving and denying augment classes."
"What would you say I am?"
"Definitely an Alpha. You and Vel are the only women I've seen with such powerful builds."
"Would you say you're...happy to have a girl with a muscular frame?"
"Well, it's definitely different than my past relationships."
"How so?"
"Well, in the past I was always the strong one. Now, I don't need to be. It's refreshing."
"You like having a buff girl to keep you warm at night?"
He chuckles.
"Well, I'm certainly not against it."
"Good," I reply, sliding up closer to him. "Because that's what you've got."
"That is definitely something I can live with."
"Good, because I can feel myself falling asleep."
"Go ahead, I'll probably join you."
I sink deeper into the mattress, my arm still slung over Riot's torso. My head rests next to his on the pillow, my neck resting gently on his arm. He wraps that arm around my shoulders, and I let out a content sigh.
"I'm the luckiest woman in the world."
"Luck has nothing to do with it."
