Hey guys, I just really felt like going into more detail about Velox's background, specifically her strong belief in body positivity, in case it doesn't get brought up later in the story.
Velox is an Alpha-class genetic augment, the strongest, fastest, most generally athletic augmentation currently in existence. Her parents are ex-Force Recon, and wanted nothing more than for their young daughter to be able to protect herself. This is why they called in a few favors to get her this rare augmentation. Alphas are naturally strong and have incredible toughness, agility, and stamina, and, to accomplish these ends, their bodies build muscle quickly and shed fat with little to no effort. This is ideal for most males, but, in a world where everyday citizens can look like models, female Alphas face unique adversity. They have muscular builds, usually with broad shoulders, flat chests, and narrow hips, and Velox is no exception. She was bullied as a young woman for looking like a man, and fell into a short depression until an infatuated classmate helped her realize that her athletic frame was something to be proud of, and something that could command respect. She quickly turned things around, demanding admiration wherever she went with her confident stride. It was during this period in her life that she decided she would join Force Recon, just as her parents did before her. After years of intense training, she passed preliminary examination with flying colors just a week before the first chapter of Intelligence takes place. She hopes that by leading the IAF to victory with Force Recon, she can spread positivity toward women with more unconventional body types.
