Reach is a Charmer-class genetic Augment, one of the less physical and more psychological augmentations currently in existence. Although not as physically intensive, Charmers are predisposed to follow the socially accepted beauty standards for their gender without any effort on their part, i.e., males have low body fat without exercising and females are naturally curvy. What really defines Charmers, however, is their personalities. All charmers are outgoing, and generally find it easy to persuade others, especially members of their preferred sex. However, Charmers are one of the most inconsistent classes of Augments currently in existence. After all, they wouldn't be very charming if they were all the same, would they?
Up until recently, Reach was classified as a "False Alpha." As he progressed through his adolescence, Reach realized that, along with displaying the low body fat that is iconic of Charmers, he was graced with a muscular, athletic frame, despite putting no effort into his appearance. This frame soon led to him being showered in affection by the females of his high school, which rapidly went to his head. Reach's school had no True Alphas, so Reach was able to dominate the males weaker than him, and charm the few that were stronger than him, allowing him to spend the rest of his adolescence ruling his class generally unopposed, engaging in short, emotionally-uninvolved flings with whatever females caught his fancy. After graduating, Reach decided someone of his stature had only one place to go: the one that would impress anyone and everyone, without fail. Force Recon.

To his credit, Operator Reach presented a performance nothing short of impressive, landing him the third slot on the first day of training. However, fate saw fit to show him the error of his arrogant ways when it placed a True Alpha in his path, and a proud, incredibly powerful one at that: Operator Velox.
When Reach approached her, he had no idea the kind of strength she possessed. How could he? He'd never met a True Alpha before, and female Alphas are the rarest kind. He tried to charm her, as he had done so many times to so many other young women.
But, as in the majority of False-Alpha-True-Alpha confrontations, it didn't end well for Reach.

Shaken by his beating, Reach's confidence shrunk to a healthier size, and he began to regret his domineering past. It was during this phase of repentance that he met Operator Shockwave, who would quickly become the most important woman in his life. He fell in love practically on the spot, but this love was different than the flings of his past: it was genuine, and passionate. Shockwave brought out a caring, protective side of Reach that no one, not even him, had seen before, and everyone was impressed by his transformation. Now, at Shockwave's side is the easiest place to find Reach, his False Alpha days far behind him.
