Chapter Seven

I had finally gotten everyone out of the water safely, but they were all shaken up. Sam and Gail were crying, Cole was on the verge of a serious nervous breakdown. Kylie hasn't spoken a word, I could see her shaking and shivering, but she hadn't said a word, just curled up against my side.

Thank god her anxiety stopped but more worried about her stomach. I know the sweater is sticking to her skin but I can feel her flinching from the pain she's in.

Coles voice snapped me out of my worry
" what the hell was that thing?" Cole snapped

"Anaconda!", I told all of them

"Oh great", he said throwing his arms up

"There's snakes out here that big?", Gail asked

"Yes-but", I started but Cole cut me off hysterically

" but what. It swallowed him whole!"

" calm down and listen for a second", I told him

" NO, YOU CALM DOWN! YOU LISTEN! BEN WAS JUST EATEN BY A FRICKEN SNAKE OKAY? A FRICKEN SNAKE! OH GOD. OH GOD. I MEAN. DID YOU SEE THAT THING!?"

"Cole!", Jack yelled to try an calm him down but he was still hysterical.

" Mitchell listen to me man. I watch the Discovery Chanel. I'm telling you we got no chance! I'm telling you man we're like ice in an aquarium you understand. We're gonna die girl. WE GONNA DIE!", he screamed in front of Blondie till Jack pulled him away

"Cole calm down... okay?", Jack sad to him carefully and he nodded.

"Jack, I'm okay. I'm okay. I'm gonna just sit right here. I'm sorry, sorry", he said sitting down as tears welled up in his eyes

" alright listen, anacondas are territorial, a snake that size will hunt a large area. There won't be another one for miles. We gotta get to the boat, it's not that far. So if we keep moving and stick together we should be fine", I told them, then looked to Kylie who has a faraway look on her face, still wincing.

"We should be?" Gail snapped back

"How big do they get?", Mitchell asked

" that was the biggest one I've ever seen by far, a freak of nature. The odds of running into another one that size are astronomical".

"Yeah but how do we know that one that got Ben won't come after us?" Gail asked then that's when Kylie spoke up since we got out of the water.

" it will take them a few weeks to digest, a meal like that he will be sleeping it off for a while", she spoke softly not looking at anyone

"Let's just get to that boat and get home", Gail said which I'm kind of lucky she had, the silence was deafening

"What about the orchid?", Jack asked and everyone including myself looked at him like he was crazy

"Are you serious? Your kidding right?", Kylie said to him with wide eyes

" it will not bloom for another seven years", he said in disbelief

" We don't care anymore. Ben is dead. Don't you get that, your friend just died an all you cared about is that damn stupid flower. We lost someone. I may not have known him long but he was a good person", Kylie said anger evident in her eyes, wincing from pain.

" She's right! I will not let anyone else get hurt, it's bad enough I got Bills wife hurt and Ben is dead. This expedition is completely over Jack", Gail said, which made me proud, she's thinking with her head an not about that stupid flower
