I dragged Kai out of the tree and we left to the hair place. We walked in and my mother smiled at us. That's right, my mother owns the place.
"What happened at school that made you guys leave early?" She asked as we entered.
"Just some stuff." I replied not really wanting to go into detail. My mother was really understanding about these topics and normally doesn't mind if I come to the shop early. My mother gestures for Kai to take a seat and she gets to work cutting his hair.
Awhile later, Kai's hair was cut and shaped perfectly the way he wanted, nice and short. It was visible that he loved it which made me smile.
"Thank you Mrs. Aristé. It means the world to me," I heard him say. I turned to face him and he had tears in his eyes. "Thank you Miah."
I just nodded and got ready to pull him away when my mom grabbed my wrist. She was an older woman with greying hair, and so many smile lines covering her face. She was always smiling, and her eyes would shine brighter than the sun. But this time, she wasn't smiling. Her eyes were dull, not the sparkly ones I've grown up around. She looked almost fearful as she whispered to me.
"Please take care of him Miah."
And that was it. With that my mother walked away, leaving me and Kai alone on the salon. I shook my head and looked at him with a smile.
"Shall we be off then fine prince?" We both giggled and together we began walking to the convention center where the support group was held. I walked in and was quick to announce our presence.
"Sup losers, I brought fresh meat. Everyone meet my best Friend Kai," I grinned at everyone as I was showing him off. Of course, Kai was a blushing mess. He was shy and hated how boisterous I was.
"A little warning would've been nice Miah," My friend Cole mumbled. Surprisingly, he wasn't looking up as he spoke, something he always does. He also had a subtle pink tint to his face. I swear he was fine when we walked in? I thought to myself until realization hit me in the face like a sac of bricks. Literally as I felt myself being shoved into the nearby fireplace after Kai had been tackled by my other friend in the support group, Skyler.
I winced as I sat up. I painfully watched the exchange of Kai and Skyler.
"Sorry bout that," I heard her say to him. "Name's Skyler, but you can call me Sky"
I groaned and stood up. "Ok Sky dont paralyze the poor boy," I told her as I pulled Kai away from her. "Now, how about we start story time yeah? Let you guys get to know him a little better?"
Everyone nodded their heads and we all took our seats in a circle around the lounge room. Kai and sat in bean bags on the floor while sky had a recliner and Cole had a whole couch to himself. Greedy bastard.
With a small debate we decided that Sky would go first and she'd randomly throw the "Truth Stick" to whoever when she was done. With this, she began.
