We Are Human Too

Part 7: Miah's POV

A/N:this chapter takes place the day after Cole confronted his dad. Originally it was going to be the same day and then I added him and Quinn into this chapter whoops.

We had school a few days after our little get together at Cole's house. As much as I didn't want to, I went. I had to drag Kai the entire way there, but that was a normal occurrence. It was extra awful that morning though, considering Kai stayed at my house, and we had to run to his house at like 5 in the morning.

After the slow morning we stood in front of the school building. Kai looked extra terrified today. I sighed and took his hand in my own braceleted one. He gulped and looked at me as I offered a small unsure smile. He nodded and together we walked inside to our home room.

Not moments after we stepped through the door did all conversation stop for the people to stare at us. Well, Kai, but I was beside him.

There were a few snickers and several people shoving their beloved partners behind them so they didn't have to see him. Cause you know, what a monster he was. I hope the sarcasm soaked through.

Kai looked like he was keeping back tears as he strode the hallways. I ended up making several groups of people back off of him by the time we made it to our destination.

He slowly walked into the homeroom and sat in the farthest desk in the back by the window. I glared at everyone in the hallway before following after him.

The day went by fast after that, and next thing I knew, it was already lunch. Kai and I waited in our last classroom until everyone else was already gone before getting our lunches and heading to our tree.

We ate in silence until I heard his quiet sobs. I had already finished eating several minutes before so I set my stuff aside and pulled his head into my lap. I ran my hands through his hair and told him a story to calm him down.

The rest of the day went by in blurs of shoving and screaming insults at the god awful people that dared to speak bad about Kai. As soon as the last bell rang I dragged him out of that place and didn't slow down until we reached the convention center.

Upon entering our room of the center we noticed that Cole had brought Quinn and they were doing schoolwork there. Cole looked up from his laptop and immediately noticed our expressions. He stood up and walked over to us.

"Mind if I steal you for a second beautiful?" I heard him ask Kai. I snickered slightly as the blush formed on Kai's cheeks. Kai nodded and the two disappeared into the hallway.

I giggled and walked over Quinn who was smirking at me.

"Oh my god they're so into each other!" They said at the same time. They both burst into fits of laughter as the broke off into making bets about the two males outside.

———————Kai's POV—————

After Cole closed the door to the hallway he sighed and spoke, "Did something happen at your school today?"

I nodded and avoided any eye contact with him knowing I'd end up bawling again if I did.

"Wanna tell me about it? It'll help"

That's it. I lost it. That false sense of calm I had. I looked up at Cole with tears already filling my eyes.

"Monster. That's what I am and always will be. So why do people even like me? Hell no one at school does and they all seem to have the right minds now don't they!" I subconsciously grasped and scratched at my arms as I spoke, well yelled most of it.

Cole winced at my words before gently placing his hands on my shoulders. "Hey, hey. I know. You're not a monster it's a way to fluff their egos. Please calm down. You're ok, they're not here......"

His words all started blurring together. My vision spotted, I suddenly couldn't breathe. Damn it, I forgot that I had just got a new binder and had been wearing it far too long. Not to mention the panic attack. I tried to speak but I couldn't. Everything came out in broken sentences, little fragments of everything.

Cole realized what was happening and managed to carry me to a family bathroom nearby. Luckily no one else was in the halls at that time cause it would like like something else was about to happen and that certainly WAS NOT the case.

Cole slowly mouthed things like 'breathe' and helped me out of the t-shirt I was wearing. He had me face away from him as he also helped me out of the binder I was wearing.

As soon as it was off, Cole had closed his eyes and turned around to give me a minute to adjust myself and put the shirt back on.

After a few moments I finally spoke, "thank you. For everything."

He nodded at me and offered a small smile, "yeah anytime. But how bout next time we're in bathroom together you're not about to pass out from lack of oxygen?" He said with a wink and smirk. My face heated up instantly and I hit his shoulder hard.

"Ow! I'm kidding I'm kidding. Sheesh you pack a hard punch. C'mon we shouldn't keep the girls waiting much longer. Besides Sky should be here by now."

I grabbed the discarded item of clothing and watched as he unlocked the door. After it was open we walked back to the room in silence.

As soon as we entered a fuming Miah and Sky stormed over to us. Miah looked like she was about to yell at us until her expression softened when she noticed the scrunched up binder in my hands.

"I forgot to have you take that off didn't I?" She announced with a sigh. I comfortingly put my hand on her shoulder and reassured her that it was fine.

Sky picked up on the tense mood and smiled brightly. "How bout a round of twister?"

A/N: 1007 words not including authors notes. And wow and actual update? Surprising. (You know what's not surprising? How much money you save when you switch to geico) but in all seriousness, I have major writers block recently and I'm currently busy with dance and everything. Also this chapters has a lot of innuendos whoops. I couldn't help myself. And my apologies if my writing seems to be going down the drain I dunno what's happening to it and I feel like this story is all over the place.
