Holy shit he's hot. Like I wasn't expecting that. I was listening to my Spotify playlist (which all my friends call emo shèt but I don't really care) then all I of a sudden, BAM. Another reminder that I am gay. So very gay. (Pan if you want to be technical). When Miah suggested we started the story portion earlier I couldn't care less. That was until she wandered in with the new guy.
I ended up taking the entire coach myself, much to everyone's dismay. A trick I pick up from Dolly, my cat. She was a bed hog. Anyways, as soon as Sky began her story I placed my earbuds in my ears and pressed shuffle play, on my playlist. The first song to come on was one from Nervana. I began tuning Sky out, since she told the same story every time she met someone new. Every. Damn. Time. And all it had to say was how supportive her family was until her grandma found out. Her grandma started yelling at her, and scaring her to the point where Sky ran away. And that's where we are now. If you were to ask her, Sky would decline to talking to her parents, although we all know she still does.
Eventually, as Sky's story came to a close, she clasped her hand over her eyes and tossed the stick which promptly landed in my lap. Great.
I rolled my eyes as I took the earbuds out and cracked my knuckles. I began the story with the explanation that I wasn't out to my family yet. Of course, all except Kai already knew that. Then I continued on about how I was being transferred to an all guys private school. They were all a little sad for me but I shook it off. As I wrapped the story of my day off I tossed the stick to Kai silently.
Kai's eyes widened as he saw what landed in his lap. He blushed slightly and scratched the back of his neck.
"I don't really know where to start." I heard him say. "But I guess I'll just start from the beginning. My name is Kai, as I'm sure you're all aware. I'm trans. Just starting to transition. I go to school with Miah, and my ex best friend was the only one I told my secret too, until she told the entire school. So as you can probably guess, there's lots of bullying from classmates, and dead-naming from teachers."
As Kai finished off his rant, he handed the stick to Miah with a huff. Once again, as she began to speak I zoned out. She was just telling the story of how she met Kai up until this point. Of course I caught bits and pieces of the story, but not much.
Once Miah was done we all decided to watch a movie. The convention center was nice enough to give us our own private room to host in. The room also included a few cots and a small kitchen type area in case of an emergency. Along with the lounge room we are in now.
Before I knew it, Sky had thrown "The Greatest Showman" into the player and we all squeezed onto the couch. By that I mean, Miah day on my feet until I moved over. By the time the movie began, Kai was next to me and the two ladies were on the other side of the couch. Kai and I were sharing a blanket and popcorn as were Sky and Miah.
When "Rewrite the Stars" came on Miah, Sky, and Kai all started singing along with it. I only sat and listened to the (off key) voices of the three. I secretly loved the movie and this happened to be my favorite song, but would I let them know that? No. Would I even let them no I could SING? Definitely not. My reputation would go down the drain for sure.
Eventually the movie began coming to a close and everyone started zonking out. I stayed awake reading something on my phone as everyone else slept. When I was sure everyone was asleep I crawled out from beside Kai and replaced the blanket over him. As well as turning the tv off, before seeking out a pen and a piece of paper.
I wrote a quick little note saying I went home since everyone fell asleep and headed towards the door. I grabbed my keys and my leather jacket and glanced back at the sleeping figures one last time before heading out into the world. I made the short walk to my motorcycle, and hopped on. I only live a little ways away, but it was too rainy to walk today. I rode the few minutes home and quietly opened the door.
I checked to see if anyone was in the living room before I headed to the kitchen. A note was taped to the fridge explaining that dad was working late today. I sighed and headed upstairs to my sisters room. I knocked quietly and peeked inside to see my sister sleeping at her art desk with marker smudged in her face. I easily picked the 13 year old up and carried her to her bed. Too easily. She had a rare eating disorder to where she was never fully nourished. I kissed her forehead and pulled the blanket up to her chin before shutting her light off and leaving the room.
—————-(A/N: this part briefly mentions a disease *that I'm not even sure exists* and suicide. If either of those topics upset you please do not read it's not a crucial part to the main story)—————————————————
I then decided that I needed to see my mother. She had the same problem as my sister except hers as gotten progressively worse throughout her lifetime. As I got closer to her room I started feeling a weight on my chest. Like something wasn't right. As I opened the door I saw plain in simple that my feeling was correct.
My parents' room was always a mess. Neither of them ever had the time or energy to actually clean it, but the room was spotless. Except for discarded stool and a few letters. As you looked up you finally noticed her. Tears jumped to my eyes as I quickly untied her from the fan. I was bawling as I cradled her in my arms while fumbling to call 9-1-1. They would be too late she was too far gone. I sobbed uncontrollably as I watched them take her away. I walked back inside to find that my sister was awake. She heard my screams, she saw the scene. I carried her back inside to the living room and sat her down. She cried herself back to sleep in my arms. I had finally calmed myself down enough to carry her back to her own room where I laid her down. I then made my way back to my mothers room and picked up the scattered letter finding one addressed to me. The letter made me start to cry again but one part in particular stood out to me.
'And son, I always knew. But I still loved you and wished you would've told me yourself. Goodbye'

A/N-1186 words. Oof. Ouch. Ok so this chapter is so long because I wanted to give more insight into his character. Also, my hearts racing after writing that and oh my god my poor baby. Also I don't really feel that I did the last part justice. I'm not a huge angsty person. So like if I have readers other than close friends you can still talk to me if you have any concerns. Anyways I hope you enjoyed this special part.
