[ A/N: Urgh, I spent my entire day making gingerbread cookies for seemingly no reason other than to be 'festive' ( as my father puts it )... T^T I just wanna sleep but I can't because I need to earn hourglasses in order to unlock the V route >//~//< Anyways, the last update was, what, 3 weeks ago? 4? I'm sorry for not uploading for so long, y'all must be pissed... ;-; ]
You walked silently beside Yuki, the two of you on your way to meet up with his friends. "Are you nervous?" Yuki asked, noticing that you were fiddling with the hem of your clothing. "A-ah..." you averted your gaze with an anxious smile, "a-a bit..." you admitted, poking your fingers together nervously.
You heard Yuki chuckle, slipping your hand into his and giving you a comforting squeeze, "Just relax, the only thing you should worry about is having fun!" He smile reassuringly. "B-but what if they don't like me? What if they find that I'm a terrible person to be with?"
"[Y/N]..."
"What if I do nothing but make awkward situations and they start to feel uncomfortable when I'm around? What if I go too far during a conversation and reveal too much information?"
"[Y/N]."
"Or worse, what if they start to hate you because you're associated with someone as terrible as me? I can't do something that horrible to you, I-"
"[Y/N]!"Yuki cupped your cheeks with his hands, effectively cutting off your rambling. You both stood in silence as he waited for you to calm down. "You know, you talk a lot more when you ramble like that," he teased softly. "Ah, s-sorry..." you muttered sheepishly, blushing with embarrassment. "I won't let any of those things happen. Besides, they wouldn't be my friends if they thought you were a bad person~" [ okay, I'm phrasing this correctly, right? ]
He laughed lightly, patting your head. The action made you heart beat louder in your chest, a warm feeling of security washing over you. You nodded meekly, daring yourself to hold the smallest amount of confidence. It was difficult but you wanted to trust Yuki, even if it was just for today.
"Yuki-senpai!" Further down the street, you saw Fumio waving to you and Yuki, the rest of the group already with him. "Hey!" Yuki waved back, switching into a light jog in order to catch up with the group. You caught up soon after, still at walking pace. It felt a bit odd to see his friends in anything other than the school uniforms but you brushed it aside, you were wearing casual clothing yourself.
Everyone said their greetings before the group started heading off down the street towards a destination you couldn't remember. You trailed behind the group, watching with light amusement as Katsuo gripped his childhood friend in a headlock, messing up his dirty-blond locks and laughing deviously. You were fine with this, just watching. It was much more comfortable than interacting, in all honesty.
"[Y/N]-chan?" You snapped your focus away from the boys ahead, turning your attention to Katsuo's sister, Miyuki, who had decided to trail back as well to keep you company. "Ah, Mori-san..." you muttered, not expecting her presence. She laughed lightly, "We're not in school, you know? You don't have to speak so formally~" You became flustered at her casual response, nodding meekly, "R-right..."
Your attention returned to the leading group, though you couldn't quite make out their conversation. "You know, they were talking about you..." Miyuki suddenly spoke up, making you jump. "M-me?" You stuttered, genuinely shocked and confused as to why you would even appear in conversation, "W-What were they saying...?" Miyuki hummed mischievously beside you. "Haa~ Should I tell you?" she teased. "M-Miyuki-chan...!" You pleaded, curiosity getting the better of you for a moment. You quickly realized your actions and placed a hand over your mouth, as if to prevent saying more things without thinking.
Miyuki laughed sweetly, "You're really shy, aren't you [Y/N]-chan?" Your cheeks grew red and you hung your head in embarrassment, unable to think of a decent reply. "I can see why Yuki took a liking to you~" You saw her comment as completely platonic, unaware of what she actually meant. You didn't have much time to ponder on it when Katsuo announced that the group had arrived at their destination.
"Where are we?" You asked Miyuki. "It's a karaoke place. Juzo is friends with a worker here so we decided to try it out!" She explained, unaware of the dread setting in your stomach. "K-karaoke...?" You whimpered under your breath, but Mikyuki had already caught up with the group, beckoning for you to follow from a distance. 'Oh no...' You swallowed the painful lump in your throat, trying your best to gather up all your strength and slowly follow the group inside. 'This is bad...'
