Fascinthia got up from where she was sitting on the floor and straightened herself. The loud thumping of footsteps, a lot like heels clacking on the floor, was becoming louder. She walked up to the metal door and placed her ear to it, trying to hear whatever possible. The voices were quiet, low, murmurs but she picked up on a few words here and there before hearing the lock unbolt.
She distanced herself from the door and waited for the visitor to enter. She saw a guard enter in the general black, then, behind him, in a long grey gown with a cape draped over her shoulder to cover her arms came Elvira. Fascinthia stood stunned. "Bow down in front of the Elite!" the guard barked and in a hurry Fascinthia did as told.
"Thou art cashiered," Elvira said in a smooth, even tone, placing a command for the guard to leave. He hesitated and Elvira's voice grew louder this time, "I said you are dismissed. Until and unless thee wish to beest fired, i highly suggest thee doth as command'd."
The guard left in a hurry, bolting the door behind him as Fascinthia raised an eyebrow. "And why exactly are you speaking in Old English and wearing this silly dress?" Fascinthia questioned.
Elvira let out a small laugh. "It's the code for the Elite. We must speak in Old English or Latin as often as possible. You are such a nerd you already know all this. You wouldn't be needing training for learning to be an Elite. Wear this dress, drink tea this way, no coffee, no pants, all kinds of weird feminine things and planning the death of the Clover and the soulmate."
At this, Fascinthia's face grew grave.
"That's what I'm here to talk about." Elvira began again, "Have you figured out your power?" Fascinthia nodded slightly and Elvira continued, "It's terrakinesis, not your will, by the way."
Fascinthia's eyes grew larger as things finally made more sense. Terrakinesis- the power to control Earth and solid elements. "You can control water and air too," Elvira continued, "but it will take up more energy. You have the strongest power of all Fascinthia and nothing is truly in compare with your magic but Elek is being given telepathy. He'll be able to read your mind. So I want you to use it as an advantage and take yourself and my brother away from this place. On the borders, Eleptia is surrounded by water but if you use your powers, you can travel across. There's more land across the waters. We were one of the seven continents. We were called Australia. But the humans here realised that among themselves were a kind of people called spellcasters. They were people with immense magic. Different kinds of it too. But the humans were jealous and threatened so they began killing them. In defence, the spellcasters too had to kill. A lot of our people were dead but a scientist- Rosita Bennet- had figured out a way for the mass destruction of these spellcasters. She used it and in the end, very few of them were alive. She made a new country out of these ashes and called it Eleptia. She thought of it as a world free from all the spellcasters but soon, she realised how wrong she had been. So she began hunting them down but the humans who were in favour of these spellcasters protected them. So, to make them hate their kind as much as her, she began this annual fight. There is more than just one spellcaster in a year but she manages to kill them, making their death seem accidental. A Clover ran last year. You can do it too. But he left his soulmate in the cell. I want you to take Elek. Promise me."
Fascinthia simply nodded, numb and rendered speechless with all the new information about her country that she always despised for its cruelty. Now was her chance. And she wasn't going to let it slip.
She had come in the world kicking and fighting and covered in blood. And she was ready to go out of this world the same way.
As far as she had her strength- her soulmate.
