'You're not going; end of discussion,' Mila's mum shouts from downstairs. Seconds later Mila herself appears at the bedroom door with rage present all over her commonly delicate features. She sticks her middle finger up in the direction of the stairs and slams the door for extra effect. Before glancing at me, she takes a few calming breaths; obviously not wanting to take out any of her irratation on innocent bystanders. Unlike me, she has enough self control to remain a civil human being even after being wound up.
'Sorry about this,' she sighs, 'you've caught her on one of her bad days.' Tanya, Mila's mum, has been abit unstable since losing her job and her husband at the beggining of the year. He walked out on them when he met someone new. The only reason she can still afford her private education is because her grandparents are loaded. She and Tanya used to get along really well but now they can barely hold a proper conversation without jumping down one another's throats. Especially now that the news has gotten out about Jess' situation; Mila is barely allowed to hang out with us anymore. Apparently we're a bad influence.
Our plan for today was to go shopping as release for all the stress we've been through this past week at school. Constant questions and remarks have been surrounding Jess and she's finding it increasingly hard to cope. Mila and I have managed I put most of the tormentors in their place however the few classes we don't share together have been really hard for her.
Although Mila and Matt are still going strong, she hasn't had a chance to tell her mum and if she's barely allowed to go out now I can only imagine what she will be deprive of doing when the time does come. I definitely don’t want to be around for that conversation. Of course, Tanya only wants what's best for her daughter however it becomes harder everyday to see the point of her strict and unessceary parenting.
The sound of Mila frantically buzzing around her room drags me out of my thoughts.
'Hey have you seen my phone?'
'Nope sorry,' I reply. Knowing her it’s probably in her pocket or something.
'I left it downstairs earlier at breakfast...' she trails off. Her eyes widen as she rushes out of the room the realization that she has left her phone unlocked in the same house as Tanya. If she’s seen those messages to Matt then Mila is in some serious trouble...
I contemplate following her downstairs but decide I am not really in the mood to witness one of their cat fights. Luckily Mila returns with her phone in her hand and a relieved expression on her face.
'She was too busy on the phone with one of her annoying pretentious "friends" to go through my phone,' she shrugs.
'Wait- surely if she's on the phone in the other room then it would be pretty easy to sneak out,' I wiggle my eyebrows suggestively. Yeah, I'm beginning to see how I could be classed as a bad influence.
Her eyes light up and I can tell she's up for it without her even having to say anything.

Once we arrive at the mall, I begin to feel comfortable again. I haven't been properly shopping since our annual tradition of summer shopping the last day of term. Nearly two months ago! Retail therapy in beneficial whatever the circumstances. Not to mention, I really need some warmer clothes now that winters just around the corner. Jess didn't feel up to coming but we promised her we would drop by with some ice cream and movies later.

We've done a good three hours before we finally decide that we've had enough. Good thing too because my feet are aching and I can't carry any more bags. It's times like these when you really needed a personal shopper or even just a boyfriend to hold all your stuff. Talking of boyfriends...Mila thought it would be a good idea to invite Matt along and he's on his way over now. Of course I had gone along with the idea but I wasn't exactly looking forward to coming face to face with him again. I hadn't decided yet if he was a good guy.
