My blaring alarm clock jolts me awake at six thirty. After my customary ten minute snooze, I reluctantly force myself out of the snug bed, rubbing the sleep away from my eyes. I really can't be bothered to go to school today. I have a History assessment first period and a maths quiz straight after. I didn't get much sleep; I was up texting Jess most of the night. She told her parents on Sunday morning and, inevitably, they freaked out. They were even madder when she informed them of her plan to have the baby. They tried to suggest adoption however Jess refused to accept any of their compromises. The argument got pretty heated and Jess stormed up to her room and locked herself in the whole day. When Jacob came to check on her, he went into the living room with her parents and had the door shut for about an hour. He left without even saying goodbye and she reckons they told him he couldn't see her anymore. I doubt it; Jess' parents love her not to mention the fact that Jacob would not accept this arrangement. I know this as I was unfortunate enough to witness their talk on Saturday in my kitchen. He hasn't texted her since but I reckon his parents took his phone as did Jess'. She hasn't been officially grounded but her parents bought her curfew forward and they said they will be stricter from now on about where she goes and who with. She's grateful really, it could've been a lot worse.

I skipped out on breakfast and as a result I arrive at school twenty minutes early. Normally I would benefit from this rare occurrence however not when I’m trying to avoid Mila. I still feel immensely guilty for 'flirting' with her boyfriend. I haven't spoken to her properly since Saturday except to ask how her 'date' went. She texted back straight away to thank me for giving them alone time and also mentioned that they went to the cinema and spent the whole film making out in the back row. I must say I'm impressed. She seems really committed and serious about Matt. Yeah and you nearly fucked that up, I tell myself.
I'm in the middle of getting my books out of my locker when I hear a shrill 'Heeeyyy,' from behind me. I turn around and see Mila's bright face skipping towards me. Speak of the devil. More like the angel, she looks great. Not the type of great you get after straightening your hair or spending extra time on your make up; the type of great when you glow with happiness that spreads to everyone around you. Even my mood has lightened with her presence... I’ve made up my mind. I'm going to tell her about the wink. She has a right to know.
'I have something to tell you,' we both exclaim simultaneously.
'You go first,' I quickly say. I’m quite the procrastinator.
'Okay,' she giggles.
It's like she's high. I wait expectantly.
'Do you mind if we go to the toilets. I want to tell you in private,' she lowers her voice.
I follow her down to the school bathrooms that, surprise surprise, are covered in water, dirty tissues, and various other female sanitary products.
'What's up?' I say trying not to breathe through my noise.
'Well on Saturday night...I went back to Matt's house and...We did it.'
'Did what?' I ask, finding it hard to concentrate on anything but the stench. It's making me feel ill.
'Had sex dummy,' she squeals.
I sway on my feet slightly; the dizziness sinking in.
Oh no. I think I really am going to be sick. I push past her and lock the cubicle door before throwing up. I groan as I acknowledge the fact that I probably have vomit all over my hair.
'Are you okay? Shall I get someone?' Mila shouts worriedly through the door.
'No don't worry, I'll be out in a sec. Sorry about that,' I reply awkwardly.
