It began at 10 pm. I had just arrived at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. After I pulled into the parking lot, I walked to the main entrance and opened the door with a key I was given. After I entered the building, the closing manager was first to greet me.
"Hello," she said. "Are you one of the night guards?"
"I am," I replied.
"You're a bit early," she said. "You are actually supposed to be here by 11."
"I know," I said, "but I want to at least familiarize myself with this place before I start."
"That's fine," said the manager. "We just closed and the remaining employees hear are cleaning up, but feel free to tour the place. I'm required to stay in the building until both night guards arrive."
"Thank you," I said, but as I began walking away, she stopped me.
"Before you go, I am required to remind you of a few things," she said. "First, you must be in the office by midnight and you must remain their until employees return to reopen the place. Second, their is a tape recorder in the office that contains secret information for you and your coworker. At midnight, after everyone else has gone, you are to carefully listen to the message recorded on that tape recorder. It provides the instructions you will need for your shift."
"Do you know anything about this information," I asked.
"No, only the owner and night guards are told this information," she answered.
"Why all the secrecy," I asked.
"I don't know," said the manager, "but between you and me, I think that something dangerous has been lurking around this pizza place at night. It's pretty scary."
At this I flinched, but I figured that it wouldn't be a big deal. "Well thank you for the warning," I said. "I will be sure to listen to and follow all instructions provided."
As I looked around the pizza place, I thought about what could possibly be need for such secrecy. It was recommended that I look at every room in the building. Even the supply closets. I didn't understand exactly what was going on, but I figured that everything would be crystal clear once I listened to the tape recorder in the office.
As the closing manager said, every employee was cleaning up. I came across the many rooms in the pizza place. The hallways were decorated with fancy party objects. When I saw these decorations, I immediately realized that Freddy Fasbear's Pizza was a children's pizza place and had events for celebrating children's birthdays.
The whole floor was made of black and white tiles arranged in a checker formation. The kitchen was just like any standard kitchen for making pizza. The supply closets were mostly empty. There were shelves for cleaning supplies in each supply closet, but there was a big space in every closet that something big could fit in.
As I toured the building I couldn't help but notice that every room in the building, including the supply closets had a security camera looking at it. "Who needs this much security in a children's pizza place," I thought. I was very confused now.
I also looked at the main party room. This room was not to far from the kitchen. There were a bunch of long tables in the room with a party hat at each seat. On the far side of the party room was a stage that had three animatronic animals. At this time they were not moving. They must have been turned off.
These animatronics were all sightly taller than a full grown man. Once of them was rabbit, another was a chicken, and the other was a bear. There were also name tags below each animatronic telling what their name was.
The animatronic closer to the left hand side of the stage was Bonnie the rabbit. Of the three animatronics on the stage, Bonnie was the only one who had an instrument, which looked like an electric guitar.
The animatronic in the middle of the stage was Freddy Fazbear. I could tell that he was the main animatronic. He wore a small black top hat and a black bow tie and held a microphone in his hand. He must have been the lead singer.
To the right side of the stage was Chica the chicken. She wore a giant napkin around her neck that read Let's Eat. She was holding anything, but the way she was positioned told me that she was a dancer as well as another singer.
After observing these animatronics, I look farther back behind the stage and noticed another security camera directly facing the animatronics. "I wonder why this place needs such monitoring," I thought.
A few minutes later, my coworker showed up. The closing manager greeted him. "Hello, are you the other night guard," she asked him.
"Yes," he responded.
I walked over to meet him.
"Hi," he said when he saw me. "Are you my coworker?"
"Yes, I am also here on night guard duty," I responded. "What's your name?"
"Dillon, and yours," he said.
"Henry," I replied and we shook hands.
"I hate to break up this greeting," the closing manager said, "but I'm required to remind the new night guards of a few things."
"Carry away," I said.
The closing manager told Dillon everything she had told me when I first walked in. Dillon had the same questions I had when I first heard these reminders. I waited for a while, but later I really needed to ask another question.
"Could you show me where the office of this place is," I asked the manager. "I had trouble finding it as I was touring the place."
"Of course. Follow me," the manager said and she began leading us to the office.
