Flight Range
(Reader's p.o.v.)
I sat in front of the fireplace at the Flight Range and brought up my hands close enough to the fire to warm myself up a bit. My Master Bow was strapped onto my back still and kept it close to me in case monsters try to attack. I could see the air coming out of my mouth and nose as I breathed in the cold air. The sun was shining as it was snowing outside as well. I shivered a little and said rubbing my arms a little, "Oh, it's sure pretty cold out here today. But, it's always cold since we are at pretty much a snowy mountain area."
I then picked up a soup spoon and stirred the stew that I've been cooking. I was cooking 'Seed Stew' (I made it up since Revali is a bird and we can eat some seeds too) and was Revali's most favorite meal that I cook. He would actually ask and sometimes beg me to make it when others are not around. I admit that it's cute of him asking me to make his favorite meal and I'm always happy to make some for him. Ever since I first met him, we had quickly bonded and got along as we became close friends.
As I kept stirring I looked up to see Revali trying so hard to do his best to improve on his wind updraft ability and been failing at every time at the attempt of mastering his ability. It makes me worry that he's trying too hard and pushing himself too much since he barely rests by keep trying over and over again to the point he might seriously hurt himself. I sighed feeling sorry for him as he crouched on the ground while he panted and I turned my head back at the stew. I grabbed a bowl and used the spoon to pour the stew into the bowl then placed the spoon into it for Revali to use to eat with. I stood up while holding the bowl and carefully climbed down the ladder as Revali shot up to the sky once again.
I stood on the ground and walked but stopped when I saw him in the sky once again. I watched with worry and saw him floating inside the whirlwind before he suddenly lost control as he was swung around in the wind. Some of his feathers flew around and he yelled as he fell out of it causing me to gasp before he landed harshly onto the ground with a grunt. "REVALI!", I yelled worriedly plus with fear as I dropped the bowl and immediately ran towards him. I dropped down in front of him onto my knees and carefully placed my hands on his shoulders while quickly looking him over for any injuries as I asked worried, "Revali, are you alright? You didn't break anything did you?"
"No...I'm..alright, (Y/N). Don't worry...about me.", he manged to say. I sighed in relief but still looked worried noticing he looked exhausted and out of breath. I gently and carefully helped him get back on his feet. I placed one hand on his chest and the other on his shoulder to help keep him steady on his feet as I said, "Come. I'll help you get inside and so you can rest." "Not enough. I must stay in the eye of the whirlwind...must push myself harder...", Revali says through his heavy breathing and body showing pure exhaustion.
I frowned and said, "Revali, you must not push yourself over the limit. You could of gotten seriously injured and you must rest." He started to catch his breath a little and he asked looking at me with a small hopeful look, "(Y/N)?" I look up at him curiously with a small smile and replied, "Yes?" He kept giving the same hopeful look but started to look a little nervous at the same time and said, "I uh....I've been wanting to you tell you something for a long while now. You've been a wonderful and good friend to me, no matter how much I could be a...well...a pain in the butt." I chuckled and nodded before he continued, "The point is...I wanted to tell you that I-"
He stopped when he noticed something and turned his head as he said, "Huh?" I turned my head towards the same direction and noticed Princess Zelda standing there looking at us curiously while two guards waiting by the horses a bit away behind her. Revali then said to her with an annoyed tone while facing his back towards her, "You know, your highness...it's rude to eavesdrop." I pulled my hands away from him when he could stand on his own but stayed standing by him and Zelda said to him politely, "My apologies. I went to the village and I was told I could find you here with (Y/N)." Revali stood for a few moments in silence and said as he turned around to look at her, "You have need of me. To defeat Calamity Ganon. To slay the beast once and for all...It will be my great pleasure."
Zelda smiled in relief and said, "Thank you, Revali. If we work together I'm certain we'll be able to defeat-" "However!", Revali interrupted suddenly causing her to stop mid sentence. I rolled my eyes and sighed but smiled a bit in amusement. He turned around and crouched down with his wings spread out lightly but low to the ground. Revali then moved the end of wings a little and the whirlwind was activated again.
I backed up a little to give some space and stood next to Zelda as I looked at him worried that he might fail again. He shot up into the air and twirled around inside the middle of the whirlwind before hovering in it as he looked up towards the sky in determination. I clenched my fists a little as I watched and hoped he would get it this time. He kept his balance this time and flapped his wings before he shot up towards the sky even higher with a smile at his success. "Yes! He did it!", I said happily with a big smile.
High in the sky, he stops as he spread out his wings and legs as he floated on top of the whirlwind before looking down. "What is he gonna do now?", Zelda asked curiously as we looked up at Revali. I smiled and said, "You're about to find out." Revali suddenly dived down as he tossed his bow into his talons and did a flip while getting the bow into his wings. He quickly placed three bomb arrows and pulled the string as he aimed for the three targets as he was free falling.
He lets go and the three arrows quickly flew across before perfectly hitting their own targets with small explosions. Revali lands on a boulder and swiftly takes off again in another whirlwind then started quickly fly around the target area. He releases bunch of bomb areas and hits every target his shoots at causing bunch of explosions to go off from the targets he hits with bomb arrows. He flew out of the smoke from the explosions and flew around the Flight Range. Zelda watched in amazed awe and I smiled feeling completely impressed of his skill.
Revali landed on the wood railing of the platform with his bow in one wing with a proud smile and said to Zelda with a cocky smile, "I know I play the biggest part in helping that, ahem...*Gives a wincing smile* that little knight with the darkness-sealing sword. *Gives an admired smile about (Y/N)* Plus, to help the other who has the greatest skill of the darkness-sealing bow. Correct?" Zelda nodded and he continued with the cocky smirk, "Well, if he loses his confidence after seeing me in action...don't come crying to me." He looks towards me and gives me a wink with a soft smile. I chuckled a little and smiled before winking back at him.
