Chapter 3

(Back at the base)

(Nightwing's p.o.v.)

Primus, keeping an optic on the Autobots wasn't easy with Optimus and Zorya gone. First, the twins were fighting again and had to beak them up before they caused any serious damage. Second, I had to make sure Ironhide doesn't blast at the Galloway guy, even though I would LOVE to see him do so but, would turn out pretty ugly after that if that would of happened. Lastly, I couldn't get the words out of my processor that the con said about the Fallen destroying Zorya. I was worried for mother's safety even more and feared that she may offline. But, that wouldn't happen when Optimus, the other bots, and I are there to protect her like we always been since the war started. Speaking of Zorya, I have been really curious about her past lately and...how her and Optimus met before the war started. I had a feeling that they probably of met when I wasn't born yet. Maybe, I could ask him when the two get back from their little peaceful drive. Then, I saw only Optimus drive over where I am as I stood in the empty hanger and transform to bot mode. Being curious of why Zorya isn't with him, I asked, "Sire, where is Zorya? Thought she was still with you." He smiled and replied, "She was. Her friend, Mikaela called her and asked if she could visit her. So, she went to go to give her a visit." I smiled back and nodded. Then I remembered being curious of him and Zorya meeting each other for the first time, I said, "Sire, I've been wondering. Could you tell me of how...you two meet for the first time? I never knew how you guys meet since I had never asked until now and just became really curious about it." He gave a sweet smile and said, "I would love to tell you of how we first met. But before I tell the story, let's sit down to be more comfortable since this story could be long." I nodded and we sat down on the floor then I asked, "So, how did you guys met?" His optics looked up at the ceiling with a soft smile as he said giving a look of remembering something that is precious to him, "Well, it all started when my old mentor had me to meet up with him and the Council..."

*Flashback in Optimus's p.o.v.*

My mentor, Sentinel Prime was taking me to the High Council for some reason. He didn't tell why we are going there so I asked as we walked side by side, "Sentinel, I can't help but feel curious of why you are taking me to the Council?" He turned to me and said with a smile, "You will know as soon we get there. Trust me, you will like it once you know." That only made me more curious and VERY eager to know what's going on. We finally arrived at the building and walked in when the doors opened then close behind us once we came inside. I let my mentor lead the way and he said while motioning me to a door we stopped in front of, "Right this way, Optimus." I went to enter but he stopped me by putting his servo in front of me and said with a serious look, "I need to mention something before we enter." I raised a optic ridge and motioned him to continue in respect. He continued, "Before we go in, you must be respectful at all times. There is...a special someone that will be with the Council as well. Do you understand?" "Yes, Sentinel. I understand.", I replied as I nodded. He nods back and says, "Good. Let's now head inside." He opens the door and we walked in to the High Council talking to a.....very beautiful femme. My optics widen a little in awe and kept staring at her as if I were in a trance. Sentinel must of caught me staring at her cause he cleared his throat making me blush a faint blue then regained my composure as we walked. He turned away and shook his head with a little amused smile. Then he turned back to serious and Halogen, who saw us coming over said, "Ah, there you two are. We were wondering where you two were." The femme turns to see us and she gives Sentinel a nod in greeting. When she saw me, I gave a shy smile and she smiled backnowledge a little. "Apologies for being late, Halogen. We came here as fast as we could." Halogen nods in forgiveness. Sentinel then said motioning to the femme who began to walk towards us, "Optimus, I want you to meet Cybertron's previous goddess, Zorya." My optics widened at the mention of 'goddess'. This is THE Zorya, the goddess?! "Formal greetings as usual." She teased a bit while smiling at him. Then Sentinel replied teasing back, "And you're still as informal as usual." I couldn't no longer keep in my snicker and the two turned to me, causing me to quickly stop my snickering then cleared my throat before saying, "Sorry..." She smiled making me blush a little then turned to Sentinel and asked, "So, is this him?" Job...what does she mean by that? He nodded before saying, "Yes, he is the bot." I looked at them with a confused and curious look as I didn't know what they meant. Then Zorya turns to me and says with a smile, "So, you're my new bodyguard huh?" Wait...what? Bodyguard? Not really knowing I was her new bodyguard I carefully said, "I-I guess so." "Don't be so nervous. I don't bite.", she replied sensing how nervous I am. I then said introducing myself, "I'm Optimus." Zorya smiled before saying, "Pleasure to meet you, Optimus. I have heard a lot about you from your mentor here. Especially about your skills in combat from your training. Very impressive I admit." I looked surprised that she has heard of how well I do and....she is impressed. Not that it's a bad thing but...I feel more proud about it that she is impressed with my skills. I said, "Thank you." Sentinel cleared his throat and said, "Back to business. Optimus, the reason I brought you here is because you are chosen to be Zorya's new bodyguard." I looked at him with a look of shock and asked, "I am? How am I the perfect mech for the job? With all due respect." Zorya answered, "I'll take that answer, Optimus. The reason I picked you is because I admire your skills from your training and your bravery. Cybertron has been a bit....tense these days for me and I need some bot that has those skills to protect me." Before I could say anything, Halogen said to me with a serious look, "Before you accept of being her bodyguard, the responsibilities of protecting our goddess that are about to be placed upon you, do you swear that you will respect and honor those responsibilities, Optimus?" I nod in respect and said, "I swear upon the Allspark that I will protect her." "Good. This meeting has now been dismissed.", Halogen said before the Council left. I turn to say something to my mentor but, only to see him leaving the room as well. "Optimus?", I heard Zorya ask. I turned towards her and said, "Yes, my lady?" She smiled and asked, "Would you like to walk with me so we can try to get to know each other more? You are my new bodyguard after all." I smiled and replied, "I would love too, my lady." She puts her servo on my shoulder and said with a smile still on her face, "Please, call me Zorya." I nodded and we then start to walk towards the exit so we can get to know each other better. I keep thinking we are going to be good friends and maybe someday....being more than just friends.

*Flashback Ends*

(Nightwing's p.o.v.)

"Wow. That is some story. I didn't knew that you became her bodyguard back on Cybertron to end up meeting her for the first time.", I said with a smile. Right before Optimus could say anything, the alarms start going off and we saw Lennox run up to us while yelling, "Optimus! Nightwing!" I walk up to him and said as he went to take a quick breath, "Breath Lennox, calm down! What's wrong?" "The Allspark fragment, it's missing! Some con stole it and took off with it!", Lennox replied. Sire and I exchange concerned looks before he comm Bee, telling him to grab Sam and sends him the coordinates to meet us at. Then we took off to meet up with Sam and Bumblebee.

(At the Graveyard...)

We stood as we wait for Sam and Bee to get here. Then we see Bee pull up and stop before Sam got out with a annoyed look. He climbed up and walked towards us as he said before looking up at us, "Not one day huh? You won't give me one day in college?" I then said, "I'm sorry Sam." "But the last fragment of the Allspark was stolen.", Optimus added. Sam replied, "Stolen? Like Decepticon stole it?" I step closer to him and said, "We placed it under human protection at your Government's request, because they believe we brought vengeance upon your planet." Optimus then said, "Perhaps they are right. That is why they must be reminded by another human of the trust we share." Sam replied, "This isn't my war!" I turned to him and said, "Not yet." "But we fear it will soon will be.", Optimus said looking away. Then I added before looking away in the distance as well, "Your world must not share the same fate as Cybertron. *Looks back at Sam* Whole generations lost." Sam looked down then back at us saying, "I'm sorry, I want to help you. I do but I'm not some alien ambassador. I'm just a normal kid with normal problems. I'm sorry, I really am." He starts walking back to Bee as Optimus said, "Sam, fate rarely calls upon us at a moment of our choosing." "You're Optimus and Nightwing Prime! You don't need me." I then said softly as Sam began to get inside Bee, "We do, more than you know."
